Image linking help

I’m trying to post this:

A Youtube link with an image showing what looks like a Youtube preview image.

But it’s not working… I looked up the “detailed syntax guide” and I did exactly what it says/shows, but nothing shows up. What am I doing wrong?

imgur banned the datacenter derpi is on. This should be resolved soon. In the meantime, you can use imgbb instead.

Yes, issue has been “resolved”, no thanks to imgur.

I totally screwed up the image link in this comment somehow and can’t seem to fix it. When I try to clear the comment and start anew with the insert image button, the image never loads when I preview the post, so my fix doesn’t seem to work.

Interestingly, I could see it when I posted it yesterday from my phone. It’s not appearing when I view it on desktop Firefox. I’ll chalk it up to a client-side bug.

You can’t hotlink images from your own machine. If it’s not something hosted here on derpi (ie. a pony image with a number ID), you’ll need to upload the image to some site, and use the image’s link (one that ends in the image extension for the file, not just the page it’s on).

Basically, use imgur.
