Explanation of update to Rule #0 for consistency and clarity especially in regards to racism

More than the specific rule changes, this announcement gives me confidence in the site’s future. It acknowledges the issue of racism instead of downplaying its existence, while also showing appropriate nuance. It makes me trust that the site staff will carry Derpibooru in the right direction.

Said month also has proven that the biased staff will absolutely refuse to stop being biased, and manufacture further and further excuses for it; hence, I think the only way for the rules to be applied fairly is to not have biased staff there at all. And we have no methods of actually getting them out of their well-entrenched positions, so might as well leave, grab popcorn, and watch the fireworks.

It doesn’t help that the staff have been committing PR blunder after PR blunder, bordering on outright sabotage: answering without thinking things through (too much twitter? this is a forum, you don’t have to “post immediately or your response will be lost”, and unlike you, Nebbie, people read and respond to all posts), saying one thing then confirming its exact opposite (“we will grandfather images” - “we will not grandfather images”, “the polls are not final” - “everything polls said to be deleted will be deleted”), et cetera.

It’s a complex issue with a lot of factors that go into it. Some want everything to be sterile, some want anything goes. This targets the content that actually causes problems and leaves people to be otherwise free to express themselves artistically.

Comments don’t really have any artistic value that would make them worth of preserving on a site which one of its primary goals is art archival. I certainly don’t think anyone in the anti-censorship crowd would see disabling comments by default on those types of images as a bad thing. At least speaking as someone who still thinks these rules go farther than they ever should have especially while deletion is on the table.

That means nothing. Your parents can be anything and that doesn’t mean you know diddly squat about their occupation or the things involved in it. Again if you think every single one of the millions of police out there are “bad” then you are high. You’re looking at a small small number of bad interactions due to poor training or bad people and ignoring the tens of millions of police interactions yearly that are fine and justified.
