Derpibooru doesn’t actually usually have to deal with so many pictures being uploaded at once, not to mention that the servers are already equipped for it.

Thanks, very informative. So I’ll wait Ponybooru to improve some things and completely avoid Furbooru since part of the staff here are the same of that site, which are the main problem of all this shit.

I like rain the best but the other two have the more user friendly layout of this place. What to do?
Side note, After the image dumping is over, its going to take forever to get everything properly sorted and tagged correctly on the alt sites so do your part if you can.

People are copying the tags from Derpi during import, so it’s less “tagged correctly” and more “fix all the pics that were improperly tagged at the source, and set up the alias/implication system”.
Does Derpibooru even dump that? It really should so that backups can be complete.

they changed artist upload only but the policies that allow for people to upload both paid and private content havent been changed

I found this tool by Sibusten, Philomena Copier, that makes it easy to export a user’s uploads to another Philomena booru. Granted, this isn’t a great solution since not all artist galleries get uploaded exclusively by the artist themselves, it makes things a lot easier for some.

If you’re importing from derpi but your (or someone else’s pics) were already taken down: if you’re having issues tagging, reverse search your pics on derpi and “highlight” the image like you would with text, copy, and paste into a text editor (or plaintext tag box), and it should look like this

If an artist has removed access to their art entirely, it is likely because they now want their art to be private. An archival effort does not have to include holding people’s art hostage; by doing so you only stand to lose the trust of artists and in turn their desire to make and share art in the first place.

It is completely fair to try and archive works that are made unavailable everywhere else. Imagine if some of the greatest works in history disappeared because the artist simply disliked those works. This is why archival exists.

I fail to see how the “desire to make and share art” of someone who did a complete takedown be affected by mandatory archival. Besides, if the altboorus are indexed they do, or should, implement the People Hiding Ponies system to negate any “employer who somehow cares finding pony porn” concerns by making it unfindable.
