BLM hit. He started going off the deep end. Ponies are less cute now, and now they’re used as political mouthpieces.
 
That whole event polarized a lot of people. Think about it, if you’re a left of center person and every authority figure you know is rallying around that cause you’re probably going to too, and most of your friends. It honestly reminds me of a war mentality.

But I think now its the aggressiveness that it is often utilized that turns me off. Searching for enemies and attempting to “purify” various spaces while all marching in lockstep is something that makes a lot of enemies out of friends, neutrals and persuadables.

Go back to how the rules were, they were fine.
 
See, there’s problem with that - staff themselves were admitting that they were not enforcing old rules properly.  
That means even if we “go back” then we STILL have censorship, just “old rules censorship” one.

Yeah, one of the things that I hate about this situation is deletion of good art because of DNP.  
Like I wish we had more time to move good stuff “outside”. (kind of like moving artpiece out of country because nazis caused war)

staff themselves were admitting that they were not enforcing old rules properly.
That means even if we “go back” then we STILL have censorship, just “old rules censorship” one.
 
I think that there could be a legit discussion of some stuff that did slip through under the old rules that would qualify to be deleted under the true old system. For example this flag:

Both use a variant of the black sun, a symbol that from my understanding is mainly tied to neo nazi and occult groups. I mean this arguably would go against rule 0 as it existed since they went after other stuff truly neo nazish stuff. Though that is vary different than whatever the mods have cooked up now. I mean the proposed rules sound fine on paper but in practice their still is a fair bit of gray.

It’s a game of domination. Pressure points do exist that he possibly could leverage (say patreon). It is always better to not give into a mob but in this environment it requires a bit more than ignoring. If the administration had been more coherent with a consistent PR strategy they could have perhaps fought it off with minimal losses but in this mess there is a lot of blood in the water to entice the sharks already.

It’s important to remember that not all of the mods were complaisant in the rule changes or this whole fiasco (very few of them were by some reports).
 
That said, it’s hard to know who’s being straight with us and who’s lying after all the trust was broken.

It’s worth remembering that unless there were some recent changes to control, TSP has never had (or not had for a long time) direct control of the site. The whiplash rule changes may have been his edict, but other moderators had to implement them.

There is certainly some distrust to spread around. Even the nicer ones could be playing 3d chess with us or something with the crazy jumping around and revelations that have happened. TSP though was… well I can’t cite anything but he was a bit more than a passive actor and a source for a lot of the chaos and I can’t just blindly blame so uniformly. The Administration and a few particular actors deserve far more of the blame.

At the risk of presuming to speak for him, tsp has been working long hours for a while and was frustrated at what he perceived as a lack of progress. He wouldn’t have actually gone “iron fist”. Probably. He only wanted a resolution to a problem that had gone on far longer than it should have.

At the end of the day I think it’s safe to say that regardless of who’s responsible for everything that’s happened, they did manage to resolve that long standing problem.
 
Now we have several viable alternatives to Derpiboouru.

The problem everyone has with that when you or Von-Luna / Princess Celestia say that is that the logs make it apparent nobody there shared your belief.
 
Nowhere do they indicate “He doesnt mean it.” and only one person mentions he’s been under stress, and is directly rebutted with the fact it doesn’t excuse his threats.
 
Whats even worse is that the solution to the problem was to double down on it.

That doesn’t excuse anything, being stressed more often than not exposes how people actually feel, albeit in ways that aren’t nice and with misspoken words depending on the individual.  
In this case the situation is pretty clear cut.  
He wanted to do that.

I disagree completely. This is no more valid than the claim that alcohol reveals the real person. Alcohol and stress are both mind-altering influences, they no more show real feelings than would giving someone brain damage.

Because they were under a great deal of stress. The logs make it clear that nobody was thinking clearly at that point. They were all fucked off and just wanted it to go away.
 
I’m exploring why things went to shit with the hope of bringing a little more understanding and a little less hostility. All of this accusation (from both sides) is not helping anybody, but is instead just introducing more anger and hostility between all involved, reducing the possibility of a peaceful outcome in the process.

That’s a stretch but i’ll agree to disagree on it.
 
I’d absolutely love more understanding and a little less hostility, but that’s a two way street.  
I’ve accepted the fact that going back to pre-june rules is impossible despite strongly advocating that those rules were fine and simply a matter of inconsistent enforcement.  
When given feedback on proposed changes to the rules in an attempt to make them more consistent and fair, the response from the mod staff (Individual opinions unknown) has been to draft increasingly more biased and inconsistent rules when that is the very core problem of this whole circus.
