Is it bad to like gacha games? Without spending of course

I like Genshin, but after years of constant drama in community and on Twitter, I am questioning do I even like it still

Do people even like video games nowadays? I think it is a waste of time and energy.

Like all games nowadays and before are overpriced overrated messes that bring nothing into your life, so why so many people cling to them so much.

my theory is that as the TV people fled television to escape low quality reality tv crap they flooded gaming and then the AAA devs started catering to TV and movie sensibilities. This problem is also exacerbated by the fact that most games journalists are trained as to be film and tv critics and thus they use those criteria to score video games and simply put games just don’t work like tv shows.

well, you just haven’t found or have been playing the games or even players that fit your niche.

Video games at this point is a medium for interactive audiovisual digital information. It can be for purely entertainment, education, storytelling, satire, memes, encrypting messages etc and so on. Hence, video games are now pretty much oversaturated with contents and products.

It’s as broad a term as “Book” and “Music” nowadays.

Matter fact, the passive second-hand methods of enjoying the medium is also applicable in video games as well. Like having a book read to you, the audience can now also enjoy video games for their audviovisual storytelling without having to play it, through watching other ppl play it, or in the case of esports, you watch the game for the athletes performances or root for your favorite team.

I think people LIKE video games nowadays, but maybe not the way you used to do it.

The problem with gatcha games is that they are designed to be player-unfriendly to get people to pay real money.

So…

People who already have Mortal Kombat 1 have been looking through the game files, and on the files related to the DLC kharacters, and they noticed dialogue lines that are related to kharacters for possible upcoming Kombat Packs/expansions. FWIW these leaks come from the game files itself and the people posting these have been accurate about MK leaks before, so take that how you will.

Spoilers below

The rumoured future DLC kharacters are:
MK: The remaining 3 Kombat Kids (Cassie Cage, Jaqui, Kung Jin), Sektor, Cyrax, Harumi, Jade, Kintaro, and Noob Saibot
Guest Fighters: Ghostface from Scream, Conan the Barbarian, and the T-1000 Terminator

Kombat kids are apparently from the OG timeline, Noob is from the same timeline as Titan Havik, and Cyrax/Sektor are apparently humans but in power armor
