Unity announces it will begin charging devs per install over certain thresholds going forward,
Video Game General 2: Definitive/Remastered Edition
Unity cocking back the hammer and deciding it doesn’t need that foot after all.
And apparently it’s retroactive?
I really don’t think anyone at Unity has thought this whole thing through properly.

Huh, interesting. The comments seem to mention problems, but at least i know it’s entirely possible.

Oh hey yeah, Game Pass downloads are free… that’s REAL bad for smaller devs.
@Terton
To be clear Xbox pays them for it, but in this case it’s possible the fees will eat heavily into that,

So basically they’re instigating an installation tax. They already take a cut if you sell on their platform, but now if someone uninstalls then reinstalls their game the dev is taxed for it?
I bought Frostpunk once but reinstalled it like 6-8 times over the last 4 years. 11 Bit Studios got my one time purchase but they’ll be taxed ever time I decide to give it another go?
That’s really the norm anymore huh? Customers are charged for things they used to enjoy for free.
I swear someone at Unity must have woke up yesterday morning and decided “Let’s speedrun ruining the company!”.
Why did Fallout 76 readd weapon degradation after Fallout 4 removed it? Not having to worry about repairing is such a convenient thing.
@Mikey
To sell repair tools in the cash shop.

@Meanlucario
The first two games lacked any kind of degradation, though your weapons could break, jam or drop if you missed a shot, with it being more likely the lower your hit chance was. But using them didn’t break them down, or armor.

Eh I guess. Different subjects, but I guess horse armor did open the first few doors that eventually would snowball into this.
Shift to MMO means recurring loot is more important. That and in 76 you’ll practically just build one settlement and call it a day. Compared to 4 where you have dozens of settlements to build up, thus ensuring a need for scrap.
Me going back in Mario Maker history to find this level that this Streamer never beat.
In a 100 man challenge.
In a 100 man challenge.
The name of the level is The Pinnacle of Level Design.
And it was as glorious bad as it was great.
@Dustcan
Not even just MMO it’s also an open world survival game which also have gear condition to avoid players sitting on end game loot without doing any grind,

Oh by the way, Steam is 20 years old today.
The Grinch: Christmas Adventures, an upcoming video game set for release in the festive month of Dec…sorry, I mean October!
@DanielOrange
It’s set during the Halloween season.

Next Mega Man game, the next time Wily is about to do his “beg for mercy” thing, Mega Man will mock him for it by doing the animation as well, making Wily feel insulted.

So is the Call of Duty franchise, apparently.

After helping some robots with their ship and making Vault 88 a success (or failure if you ask the Overseer), I think I’ll tackle the Minutemen, than Nukaworld, and finally go into the Glowing Sea for the main story.
