Is Earth even in the Metroid series?

Have you ever played a videogame with the main initial hook being one character? I know it sounds odd and silly but still, how many times you got a game because of one character? (If the rest of the game keeps you hooked up it’s another subject, but I mean the initial hook)

To me it was Final Fantasy VI because of Kefka Palazzo, Team Fortress 2 because of the Spy, Ultra Street Fighter IV because of Elena, Dota 2 with Lina, Skullgirls with Peacock, New Super Mario Bros. Wii because of Iggy Koopa and so on.
And admittedly I’m tempted to play Blazblue just because of Yuuki Terumi (technically speaking two characters since Hazama it’s also included here)

I got into Deltarune because of Spamton, specifically this video. So yeah I get it.

KoF because Terry had a ton of pizazz

Metroid because of Samus.

I can name at least two mobages where I’m guilty of that. And finding out about Pyra was one of the main motivations for me not only getting Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but the reason I ended up buying a Switch much earlier than I originally intended to.

I know nobody cares about mobile Gacha games but the Global version of Final Fantasy Record Keeper just ended. This game was five years of my life and it really upsets me to see it go.

I actually bought Kaze and the Wild Masks because of my affinity for bunny girls. I haven’t played it yet since other games keep getting my attention but I’m told that its a fun Donkey Kong Country-style platformer which I can easily get down with.
The character designs of Cult of the Lamb also appeal to me and the mass amounts of fanart I keep seeing do want me to give the game a shot. I never played a rouge-like game before so I hope its mechanics are serviceable to still be enjoyable.

I mean, the whole point of gatcha is to squeeze cash. Once it stops ranking it in, the servers are just wasting money.

Not the best example. There are humans all over fantasy and sci-fi, and they don’t always mention and/or show the earth.

So once you start becoming more generous towards your consumers, you have to be put down?

Once the money-printer stops making money, they shut it down. That’s how they design gatcha games and how the companies/corporations treat them. If it was made for the customers, it wouldn’t include loot boxes in a different shape.

I still paid them money. Hell I once accidentally spent $84.99 in Gacha currency because I was sleepy. But that wasn’t enough?
Unless these games start being more generous with their customers, I won’t be surprised if there’s a worldwide ban on loot box games because of this. They had their chance to be nicer with consumers.

So you might have been a light dolphin for one night, but overall not the whale gatcha/loot boxes are designed to exploit and abuse.

Which is why these practices need to be banned, under threat of jailtime. If you can pay more than any triple-A game is worth in one pass and still have walls of stuff to buy, the problem isn’t on your end.
