You don’t remember the greek(?) AS game with creepy romances and terrible microtransactions that include exp boosters for those who don’t like grinding quests to progress the story? What about its DLC where they force the player’s character into a straight relationship because they realized after selling the game that the plot device from the first few games were that the player was living out the lives of the main character’s ancestors’ lives. That cause quite an uproar, and their apology was lack-luster and implied that they knew what was going to happen but did it anyway.

Would have made much more sense to do it with FarCry instead, where that isn’t the plot device (before they yeeted it out the building because “stories that expand multiple games isn’t what gamers^TM want.”)

To be fair, they corrected that after the fact, by making it clear they just used a friend to have the kid and can still be in a same sex romance, still could have been avoided if they hadn’t used that dumb framing device since the beginning and or finally stopped making AC to make a new series based on it’s mechanics that isn’t shoved into the real world as poorly as the AC games often are,

Still doesn’t change what they did and that they had no reason to not think it would blow up in their faces. Make Assassin Creed about the assassins and templars, the story of the original games, and either finish that story before changing the plot device or do it in another franchise like FarCry, where that wouldn’t conflict with the plot device.

the issue is that they kinda ran low on good settings for the assassin Templar conflicts, because of the dumb real world setting, they need to just end the franchise so they can move on to a new one where they don’t have to explain the pirate ships and can finally get back to the navel combat that was the series peak,

I mean, nothing was stopping them from having the templars having many forms in history. Maybe they were the templars in the first three games because that group was the best suited for them at that time-frame. Why not have them be part of Egypt’s goverment and have them using the Jewish people to hunt down the information before the beings started The Prince of Egypt to stop them, or have them have a hand in WWI if you wanted to go forward in time. They already have a game in the Victoria era, so they aren’t afraid of going forward in time.

Guns, there comes a point when the melee combabt just feels weird against people with SMGs, that’s why they only do short bits in the 20th century,

it’s just plain time to let the dumb thing die and replace it, plain and simple, they can invent a whole new verse that’s full of oceans and islands and let the games print money, almost no one actually likes the obsession with history that tethers them to the story, if anything it does nothing but hurt it,

Last I checked, people liked the story of the original games. And they have been selective about the historical accuracies since the beginning, so why would it bother them now? And the more I learn about ancient Greece, the less accurate Odyssey sounds. If anything, the male character should be forced to marry a woman but have their sex-life revolve around their male friends (since that’s how ancient Greek did things).
