It’s just that when he made the bulk of his argument to revolve around censorship and design changes to appeal to what seems to be a more diverse audience with a lot more diverse sensibilities, then uhm…
 
YES, but there’s a lot more going on than just THAT. And it’s not like the dev team wanted to alienate hardcore fans either. There is a lot of moving parts in creating a AAA title for the general consumer. The more moving parts, the harder it gets to balance it. (that’s not counting the technical issues)
 
That’s the reason I like the simplicity of Indie Hentai RPGs or other EROGE (porn games) because they are laser focused, they have a niche demographics, they don’t have a lot of moving parts and thus they have a LOT more freedom to express how they want their characters to look like.

reading the 2nd paragraph…well, modern Lara Croft was also the same thing! You watch any video of Lara Croft death / hurt compilation and then close your eyes. HO BOY ain’t that something.
 
There is ALWAYS ppl who says “not sexy enough, I’m offended” or “too sexy, I’m offended” and unfortunately that’s just the nature of female characters in AAA games, man.
 
First it was “oh no the skirt is now a pair of shorts!” and now this guy “oh no this is feeding someone’s fetish!” WHICH EXISTS btw. It’s called RYONA. And I have a sneaking suspicion that he knows, which is why he felt uncomfortable because he been exposed to it. Like when you about to hit puberty and suddenly that young, 20 something playground teacher is making you feel uncomfortable.
 
Now. Here’s my opinion on that piece. So What. Was Jill desinged to be sexy–YES! She’s a playable female main character of what seems to be your average hollywood zombie flick so YES she’s sexy. What about it? Is Resident Evil 3 tryna send a social message–what? NO I don’t think so. It’s for someone’s entertainment.

yea fair, I mean it IS a horror game and the dude was implying it could be a fap material for ryona fetishists which, frankly I wouldn’t argue against. I can see what this dude implies.
 
YES RE3 isn’t aligned with how you want your female characters treated sure, but if you’re taking off points BECAUSE of it then I have to disagree.
 
Like, if you do THIS:  
6/10 not enough mini skirts, is pandering to sjw and feminists.

6/10 implied rape and excessive violence against women, possibly a fetish.

Capcom meant it to be a more western horror than eastern if nothing else.

While we’re tangentially on RE, quite a direction it’s taken, hasn’t it?
 
It made the best installment in a while, 7 and as if to reverberate that success, they remade the second and third(possibly the first, but i haven’t checked) in its style, how far will this go?
 
Could they really hope to redo 4, long held up as the high point of the franchise is some aspects, in the same way? And would they dare to go beyond that? And what happens when they get to 7 itself? Do they just skip it and make 8?

1 was already remade 20 years ago, though it kept the classic style.
 
I’m not sure 4 needs to be remade. Maybe a remaster if it hasn’t had one already, but otherwise it still holds up.
 
Code Veronica could benefit from a remake though.

The moment they redo RE4 is when they go full circle and defeats its purpose.  
RE2 and RE3 Remake is supposedly them going back to their dumb hollywood zombie survival horror roots, with RE4 mechanics which, not gonna lie, spawned a genre of over the shoulder horror shooter.
 
Which means remaking RE4 with current game mechanic is kinda like remaking RE4 with better graphics, because the core gameplay hasn’t really deviated much from the original RE4.

Never liked the gulp worm, albinoid or first tyrant fight. I wouldn’t mind losing them.

Everyone will expect the remove of certain boss fights. RE2 planned to remove the mutated croc, but it was implemented in the last second because fans screamed for it, and RE3 removed the Grave Digger

I do find it rather telling that the people who tend to be fine with there changes have a very narrow view on how The female is allowed to look. I also have to point the irony, that the so called “defenders” of women on the interest took swift actions in what they like to claim others Dog-piling and gas-lighting a woman, who if not for her, probably would have went under the radar.
 
A group of predominant men telling a women what she can think on a subject and go about telling her how she is indeed wrong for her opinion.
 
The jokes write themselves, and they’re the punchline.

I don’t think Capcom has any intention of remastering 4 or any f the other games, and the next game in the franchise will be RE 8.
 
I think one of the people at Capcom said the reason why 2 and 3 got a remaster was because they were the only games in the franchise that weren’t made on their current game engine, and now since all (mainstream_entries all share the same engine, it will make things easier for them to port over to future consoles.
