I think so. They were apparently hoping to do a X-3 at some point, but plans for that obviously fell through.

I heard they are making a book based on the unreleased episodes. On the plus side, I heard 14 is going fucking amazing, which considering how it started that is genuinely a miracle. Hopefully, Square Enix can move past the disaster that is 13 and basically everything it caused, 15 included, so maybe the theoretical 16 will show they learned lessons since.

I also heard rumors about Nomura taking ideas from canned versus XIII and the world ends with you sequel into future kingdom hearts games, so maybe he’ll slam some influence from X-3

You also can’t forget about the initial failure of XIV’s launch. Granted, they were able to fix it, but it still doesn’t reflect well on them.

That was due to the severe mismanagement caused by their previous CEO. After they got rid of him things vastly improved for the company (save for XV being rushed as hell).

I canceled my XIV account a few years back. Game just didn’t “do it” for me. I prefer XI so much more.

Well, several years of mismanagement is definitely going to shake up the fans’ confidence. If square is hoping to win them back, then they’re going to have to bring out the big guns. And a FFVII is arguably the biggest gun they have.

ya, so bad that their only course of action at improvement is to almost literally nuke it and give us the xiv we have today.

Well, I’m the arch-mage now. I think I’ll start Dawnguard tomorrow, than tackle the Theives Guild, wrap up any other quests I have in my log, Dragonborn, Dark Brotherhood, maybe Civil War, than end the main story.

I mean they already did with pretty much every FFXIV expansion that’s come out. Hell, it stole most of WoW’s playerbase. You only need to look at XIV’s massive success to see that confidence as indeed, restored.

then again if it was debatable if FFXIV was the only reason wow players migrate there, considering blizzard’s current actions. Not to diss XIV, however, but something to note.

Well, what I’m saying is, it took all the players looking for a fresh and actually fun MMORPG experience after Blizzard kept watering down WoW, they could have gone to ESO or Guild Wars but FFXIV proved itself good enough to be better.

And then there’s the people who play Elder Scrolls Online…

It’s a good MMO as well, though I don’t know how it compares to FFXIV having not played the latter. But from what I gather FFXIV is more popular.
