I would hardly call Ava’s desperate attempts to deflect and deny the contents making her look cool, she’s obviously really embarrassed and annoyed,

I never said it did, I mean tying to make herself look cool, and it’s played for laughs. Imagine if she wasn’t there to reply, and all we had was an asshole making fun of her insecurities. That would be more impactful due to how there’s no “look how embarrass she is,” just us seeing her privacy mocked. It worked when all we had for Tina was her father telling her to run and don’t look back, and it make Pickles somewhat better when you fetched his recordings that are his diary, yet it didn’t work for Ava since she got in the way of her own background. Doesn’t help that Ava isn’t a well-done character either.

I think it works because Ava’s in her mid teens so trying to spin embarrassing things makes sense, and it helped balance the quest more, we still have Grace’s Birthday party if we want some well done full blown sadness,

It doesn’t make her any more likeable, which is the point of said quest. Remember when Tina had to face the reality that Roland was dead in BL2? Too bad Ava never had to experience something like that for causing the death of Maya and refusing to accept that reality, and never matured out of it, yet was considered mature enough for Lilith to hand her the responsibility of the team before going on a suicide mission.

1 Ava’s more mature than Tina was, Tina is a high functioning Psycho, so Ava can deal with her grief in a more realistic fashion,
 
B Maya was probably aware she was going to die soon since she knew Ava was her replacement, and besides Troy and Tyreen would have just taken her down normally, anyway,
 
3rd Ava is the best choice because literally no other non active vault hunter would be a good idea for the job,

1. No, she isn’t. She never accepted that she’s the reason Maya died and never shown accepting it, unlike Tina.
 
2. That doesn’t excuse Ava’s behavior or personality. Also doesn’t help that they added that just so they can make her a siren and had to connect a loved character to her to try to give her a running start (to bad it ended up being a falling building instead).
 
3. She’s what, 14? Anyone else would be better than here, even the player character who has done much more in a month than she her entire life. There’s a reason she’s seen as a Sue to some.
 
How about you watch this video looking into why Ava is hated to understand the major problems with her, OK?

She’s not responsible for Maya’s death, all she caused was a brief stand off, that delayed her death a few seconds, Maya wasn’t going to beat both twins at once especially since Troy could literally kill her with a touch,
 
Ava’s personality and behavior is generally fine, she’s just featured in a few of the poorly handled overly straight played dramatic scenes,
 
And no dude, Moxxi, Ellie, Tanis, Claptrap, none of them are really suited to lead they are all either dangerously unhinged lack any talent for leading or are just to self centered to do it,

It’s a shame for FO 76. Frankly I think it had the best premise in the series.

If Ava wasn’t there, Maya could have escape or be captured instead, and the only reason she had Troy touching her was to trade him for Ava. Troy didn’t even know he could absorb other sirens at this point, so they would likely would have captured her instead and toy with her in front of us “for the views.”
 
Too bad she never matured out of it.
 
Seeing as Claptrap is more mature that Ava, no, there are. She could even call on Hammerlock, her old buddies Brick and Mordecai, the BL2 hunters like Axton or Gaige, the BL3 player, or even Athena, all better choices than a young teen who has earn nothing.

I defeated the three bosses (main story and the DLCs), so that’s what counts in my book.

At this point, others would do that again, but with other builds, or starting a new run but with mods.
