Im about 3-ish hours into the Resident Evil 1 Remake, and… Yeah, I still don’t care for the classic RE gameplay style.
I can tolerate tank controls in certain games (RE4 being a standout example), but what I can’t tolerate is having to deal with a general lack of control over a character’s movement, in addition to the fixed camera angles making it hard to see where you need to go.
You can claim all you want that they “add to the tension,” or that they’re “essential to the experience,” but I cannot in good faith agree with those arguments when most of my time is spent unintentionally running into walls, and being unable to properly shoot and/or avoid zombies.
I dunno, maybe I’m missing something? I’m enjoying almost everything else about the game (well, outside of the game leaving you in the dark about how to keep Barry and/or Rebecca alive; its that ending bullshit from Mega Man X5 all over again), but I’m just not vibing with how the game itself feels.
