In Dragon Age Origins, your character has a pre-story chapter base on their race and background. I did the city elf one today.

Race-base origins were a Origin only thing, so it’s understandable. I say give it and Dragon Age 2 a try someday, if you are able and will to buy them.

Nothing against the game. I just have a bunch of RPGs on my table right now. After I beat Persona 5 Royal, I plan on replaying Kingdom Hearts 1, then it’s Tales of Arise and maybe Mass Effect 1.

And that’s not even mentioning King Of Fighters XV releasing next month.

I understood, don’t worry. And Mass Effect is great, though just to warn you ME1 didn’t had relationships be very clear so you might end up in one without warning. There are only three options (the two humans can only be in a hetero relationship so only one is available per run, and the blue alien I’ve complained enough about), so I suggest avoiding hooking up until ME2, where it’s much more definitive on where you stand and has much more options.

Also just listened to Ash tell the heartwarming story of how her little sister rekindled her romance with her attempted rapist, mother of fuck was wrong with the writers back then?

Race and class based differences.

It’s really commendable just how much variation there are between the origins, and not just in the obvious way. Like, playing as a male or female Human Noble has no real difference. But there’s several different scenes and dialogue between playing as a male City Elf or female City Elf. The Dwarven Commoner one is largely the same regardless, but if you play as a female you get some extra dialogue option about engaging in “noble hunting” as another way to move up the caste system.

The mage origin doesn’t change anything if you’re male or female, but it is the only origin where you can choose to be either a human or elf for the same starting, complete with different last names (doubly notable since the human mage is an Amell, so you’re Hawke’s cousin. Elven mage is some nobody though).

I think I’ll work on Baldur’s Gate 2 tomorrow.

And trust me, knowing the lack of homosexual relationships in 1, I was gonna wait until 2 to do romance anyway.

then it mostly stops mattering for 70% of the game, just feels like maybe we could have trimmed some fat to make the game feel more interesting based on your origin throughout,

If you want to romance a guy as another guy, you’ll have to wait until ME3. If you want to go lesbian, ME has you drowning in bi bitches. There’s a reason why I say that ME is full of shallow progression.

Apparently there was a Keeper origin planned or something. But it was cut.
