Since TakaraTomy and their patrons are not content with the 3-step Big Optimus Prime toy, TakTomy decided to tease their patrons with this figure 1 ft (30 cm) tall in robot mode (about Leader class) with lights and sounds and that game code sticker in/on his left shoulder to those who have downloaded the RID 2015 Android app

Remember the name Hisashi Yuki, toy designer working for TakaraTomy.

While the J-dub of RID2015 is on hiatus after episode 13 (I watched those episodes before they were geolocked), Q Transformers season 2 is up to temporarily fill in the gap. Q Transformers, BTW, is its own gag continuity.

i once had an idea that strika (beast machines) should be a loadbearer when she makes her IDW debut (she has a more sleeker, feminine form underneath her traditional, non-feminine form) but too much time with ‘steven universe’ (not all females have to be supermodels) and some backlash about windblade’s “too feminine” opinions made me reconsider my idea. but is it interesting?

@OptimusPrimevil
Strika with a more feminine frame would be stupid
Now if she turned out to be a tiny thing like Nickle then maybe but the big strong character turning out to be small has been done enough best to leave her as is

@OptimusPrimevil
That really doesn’t work here

The Samus reveal wasn’t about what her body looked like under the armor it was that she was a woman period there was no hints or foreshadowing it was a well executed surprise

But Strika we already know is woman so this “twist” adds nothing new to the character and if anything takes away from her

And just to be clear while I am happy to see more diverse body types for femmes I have no problem with the more traditional slender frames

There’s been a disgusting trend in discriminating against skinny/in shape characters it is as wrong as if were done against fat ones
It’s body shaming pure and simple

sam humphries(uncanny X-force, avengers AI and starlord) would be a fresh face on the transformers comics

by ‘samus aran’ i meant the outward appearance hides a more feminine body. outside of metroid, a lot of full female body armors still go for the feminine look (curves, noticeable bust, high heels, etc).

and speaking of nickel…

too bad strika is slated to appear before there’s any chance she’s the offspring of these two (and she’s camien).

questions about third-party toys:
  1. do they pay some sort of fee to takara-tomy or hasbro? because i always wonder why aren’t they getting C&D orders.
  2. are they subject to safety tests? some toys don’t look child-safe (i know they’re aimed for collectors but aren’t they still classified as toys? so i was wondering if they under go safety testing).
  3. on average how much do they cost compare to official stuff?

So I’ve been looking through the complete allspark almanac and it’s caused me to face palm at Hasbro a little cause so many characters are redecos/retools of other characters (proto-molds they say in-universe) for instance Drift has a design based on Blurr’s (because Blurr got a toy out Drift’s mold) it feels like Hasbro could have really milked all their animated molds

Anyway here are my thoughts on what animated characters who haven’t been shown in full (if at all) would look like based on body types that have been established

Autobots:
Hound=Bulkhead
Trailbreaker=Ironhide(specifically his unused earth form)
Smokescreen=Jazz
Bluestreak=Prowl
Chromedome=Wheeljack
Getaway=Rodimus
Hardhead=Bulkhead
Tailgate=Bumblebee
Windcharger=Bumblebee(and an elite guard member)
Thunderclash=Rodimus
Whirl=Highbrow
Devcon=Mirge
Hoist=Longarm(not Shockwave just what he looked like as an autobot)
Grapple=Longrack
Skyfall=Powerglide

Decepticons:
Onslaught=Stika(lots of characters get gender flipped in animated: Nightbeat Dragstip even Sunstreaker)
Ravage=Oil Slick(Beast Wars style with a feline head like Cheetor)
Rumble=Ramhorn

Speaking for myself:
Hound’s a jeep so I think he’d be more along the Ironhide line. Bulkhead seems a bit to bulky for him.
Hardhead’s a tank so he’d be more along the lines of Warpath.
Thunderclash is a truck so I’d put him more along the Optimus/Ultra Magnus route.

@Solitude
The movie version of Hound is basically Bulkhead so it seems logical to make the animated version have the same body type

I say also that Hardhead has a Bulky style bod because his earth mode in IDW is an APC (plus they both have head in their name)

And before his prominence in IDW Thunderclash had a con exclusive toy that was a redeco of Energon Rodimus

Those are my reasons anyway

Ah, I thought we were going off of G1, since Animated is a big G1 homage anyway.

If you’re going for movie Hound then yeah, Bulkhead fits.

Hardhead still needs a cannon, though. Gonna need some retooling.

Energon Rodimus was also a truck, though.

@Solitude
Well autobots in animated “eschew such barbaric instruments of destruction” to quote Prowl from the almanac instead they relie on powers and tools
The thing on Warpath’s chest is described as a radar he Mod-ed into a sonic pulse cannon

All we’ve seen of animated Hound is his head which is G1 based with a beret but after AOE I think it best to make him with Bulky’s body for diversity’s sake

The Magnus body I like to think is only for the autobot supreme commander when the council agrees on who the next Magnus is that bot gets an upgrade

Most of those references early on were for new fans who jumped on because of the movie it gave them something familiar to latch on to
