This is what I agree with, because it’s meant to stop viruses from mutating into something worse.
 
I suggest to anyone who cannot get vaccinated due to conditions to seek help from a doctor.

News media only focuses on the “more contagious” part. Not “less deady,” if indeed it is less deadly.

That’s actually a common misconception. Yes, on average mutations that increase the spread of the virus often lead to net decreases in “deadliness” due to a complex set of factors.
 
It is, however, not a hard and fast rule. The Beta variant follows it. Delta, however, is actually showing a marked increase in severe cases compared to the OG strain and beta. So it is both more virulent and more dangerous once contracted.
 
 
Remember, mutations are random. We’ve seen plenty of examples where viruses grow both more contagious, and more deadly.

I still wish the virus didn’t have ears.

Then why did they bring new strains after the vaccine got announced?
 
The pandemic will continue thanks to these new variants and everything will be cancelled or delayed.
 
Seriously, people lost interest in Fast and Furious after F9 is delayed.

Viruses are natural entities, semi-organic robots with no concept of any human institutions.
 
They exist to propagate their genetic material, nothing else.

I just wish this pandemic would end.

Today is “Freedom Day” in England.
 
Where all COVID and lockdown restrictions (like mask wearing, hand sanitizing and social distancing) are now officially lifted despite England still not doing a very good job.
 
I predit lockdown is gonna happen again very soon.

Where I live restrictions are lifting. I’m in the right headspace for it but my second shot isn’t for a couple weeks.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia is planning to remove restrictions for people who completed two doses.

Planet Comicon is scheduled for Kansas City next month, but with the uptick in cases there I’m worried it’ll get cancelled. The city has recommended wearing masks, but no mandate yet.

Well my county’s cases of delta have almost doubled in 4 days.  
Mask mandates returning. (after the CDC said Vac’d people won’t need it. False info?)
 
Based on what’s happening around the country I’d say we’re heading for another lockdown. Glad I got insurance on the 2 concert tickets I purchased for concerts in October.

For the most part, vaxxed people don’t need to wear a mask.
 
The problem is that as the delta variant gets more widespread, you’ll see more breakthrough cases amoung the vaccinated, particularly amoung those who may have immune issues or who are recovering from a previous illness. So while most people can likely resume their normal activities, they are not 100% safe and the risk will continue to elevate as the variants mount up.
 
That, and the fact that plenty of unvaccinated idiots went and de-marked the moment the mandates were lifted means that their return may be warranted. It was never safe for the unvaccinated to stop using masks.

Well, it’s still good to wear a mask even if you’re vaccinated.
 
Besides the part where you aren’t 100% immune to a disease 100% of the time, you can still contract Covid and spread it while it’s still in your body but before your immune system has successfully fought it all off. So vaccinated people wearing a mask protects themselves as well as unvaccinated.

With all the science and technology we have now, you’d think that we’d make some sort of viable treatment for the virus that even on the cabinet medicines wouldn’t work…..course, vaccines and a booster shot’s all we have.

We have not transcended the laws of nature yet.
 
Viruses are tricky buggers, and our best efforts still are to ramp up our natural immune response.
 
 
And don’t say vaccines as “all we’ve got”. Vaccines are a medical marvel and an extremely powerful weapon. If used properly, we could literally wipe out a virus like this.

But you forget that viruses can and will eventually be vaccine resistant.
 
However, that’s only 30 percent possible in those cases.

Only if allowed to fester for too long in unvaccinated populations. We’ve exterminated viruses before with converted vaccine campaigns.
 
Even without extermination, you can severely limit a viruses spread to the point when you can keep it contained effectively.
