Who would we even get into a shooting match with? The only country with a nuclear arsenal comparable to ours is Russia, and Russia has no interest in going to war with the US anymore than we feel like going to war with them right now.

Who said anything about a war? I’m thinking of blind panic or even a mishap, which is all it would take.

The process of launching a nuclear strike is extremely complex and secure. Launching by accident would be highly unlikely. And i’m not sure what kind of mass uncontrollable panic would lead to a chain of command authorizing an attack on nothing.

Well, seeing as I heavily doubt that only two groups in the entire would have access to nukes, it could easily be a “going down with me” situation. I mean, we are in no short supply of crazies in power, the USA included.

New Zealand could soon be rid of COVID-19 it’s just a race between us and Iceland.
 
The United States also quits WHO. everybody should really do this.

Why a race? Why not just work together to stop a pandemic instead of turning it into a peepee measuring contest?

There isn’t really much we could help each other out with, since we have one and they have three and hospitals are doing good.

The USA has the most secure nuclear arsenal. A launch isn’t happening without reason regardless of who is in power. Russia doesn’t feel like ending the world, neither does the UK, and the rest of the nuclear armed nations are insignificant enough that a rogue attack on one of their enemies would likely be an isolated nuclear incident.

Utah just saw 343 new cases today, the largest increase since this pandemic began. Is this the fabled second wave?

Same here in LA county. We had over 930 new cases in 1 day. Biggest increase since the start.
