While I’m not really expecting much from a Harris presidency - although it would be really nice if she kept her promise of codifying reproductive rights and expanding Medicare/Medicaid, as well as granted that child tax credit - I’m not going to lie and say that the lion’s share of rationale for voting for Harris is just to keep Trump from taking office again.

This is a man who very explicitly is on a revenge tour, openly plans to expel over 1% of our total population regardless of citizenship status, plans to put cronies like Judge Aileen Cannon as the Attorney General, quacks like Robert Kennedy jr as head of the Department of Health, and create an entire new agency so dumbasses like Elon Musk - a man who’s entire empire is propped up by government subsidies and somehow tanked his one private company by like 80% - can decide if other government agencies is being smart with their money.

Also, it’s all but guaranteed that anywhere between 1 to 3 Supreme Court Justices will retire in the next 4 years. Trump deciding 1/3 of the SCOTUS already fucked up our rights enough as is, him potentially deciding up to 2/3 of the court will be a disaster.

As for the propagation of the “Deep State”, the entire Republican party is just a “Make Trump Happy” cult now. For the last several years their own party’s convention didn’t have any policies, it was literally just “Do what Trump wants”. Even when he wasn’t president. Trump is with no exaggeration the “Deep State”.

He’s also promised a flat tariff on all imported goods. This would wreck the economy, he’s an idiot who to this day still doesn’t understand that it’s the domestic nation that pays the tariff, not the foreign one. Even so this still has the high chance of foreign nations implementing their own tariffs, which would lead to a trade war where nobody wins. For China specifically he randomly declares an intent to have anywhere between 20% to 2000% tariffs, whatever his dementia tells him that day.

So yeah. I honestly don’t expect much from a Harris presidency. Some things will improve, most will remain the same and the overall term will just be mediocre; a standard Democrat presidency. And yet the status quo is far more preferable to the guy who openly wants to be a “Dictator on Day One” and has an enemy list as large as his pants sized and stuffed even more than his adult diapers.

Retreating to his safe space on his minor social media platform and Twitter, he spams a nonstop deluge of grandiose delusion while the more rational fascists behind the scenes starts pushing the states that have flipped to declare “irregularities”, anything to stir doubt into the electoral process even if it requires digging up ancient loopholes. Security in state capitols is increased, a couple terror plots that were planned without any subtlety are foiled before they can even start.

The right wing propaganda apparatus spins into overdrive trying to both defend the indefensible and retain plausible deniability in case something horrible happens because of their messaging. Ultimately, orders from the top come to just shut the hell up now that there’s a very real chance that the invincibility spell on their messiah just ran out. The more unhinged and legally unbound personalities are emboldened to push their accelationist agenda and do so shamelessly.

And on here, we end up sharing whichever scrap of incendiary content is propped up, hoping to whatever one believes in that the unspeakable doesn’t end up happening.

Oh well I suck at spotting the difference.

Trump as a businessman is a failure though. He’s bankrupted 6 businesses - 3 casinos and 3 hotels…places where people literally just give you money! - and has had 30+ other failed business ventures. One of which was selling steaks…in an electronics store.

He’s such a failure that from the 80s to 90s he suffered more financial loss than anyone else in the country. He literally lost over twice as much as the second biggest loser in the same time frame.

It’s been pretty well documented that if it wasn’t for the Apprentice show saving him and singlehandedly creating a myth of success surrounding him, he would’ve been penniless and homeless by the turn of the millennium.

And no, he doesn’t understand tariffs. He’s been told repeatedly to his face in interview after interview how they work and he insists they work the opposite.

The thing to understand is that Trump is extraordinarily stupid and does not himself understand what tariffs actually are. The way his mind works, someone says something will make him popular and liked, he immediately runs with it without checking with anyone else and amps it up to absurd levels.

Someone near him probably suggested increasing tariffs to select goods would boost internal industries, he just came out on a rally with “tariff everything!” without passing it past anyone, and those around him were too spineless to tell him what a bad idea it is. And since his ego is too big and frail to walk it back, it’s now one of the pillars of his absurd campaign.

After reading this I now believe that show was fuelled by time travel. Then again, I also tinfoil-hat believe that Sonny Bono’s death was the result of time travel.

So in case it wasn’t obvious that Jill Stein 2024 is an op, her running mate Butch Ware casually suggested a 16 week federal abortion ban. In the same interview this was clipped from, Ware said he opposes allowing trans women to play women’s sports - and he did NOT refer to them as women while he did it. This is on top of his more infamous endorsement of Uighur genocide denial in China.

So yeah if I see “Stein 2024” in anyone’s bio I will not be taking them serious at all. I was already not keen on interacting with them to begin with, but this seals the deal.
