So apparently, there were hecklers at Harris’s Michigan rally, and she shut them down. Turns out that was apparently Pro-Palestine protesters.

Guess the honeymoon period’s over?

While it’s unclear what the protesters were chanting exactly, with some witnesses thinking it was “genocide” (hence the conclusion they were there over Gaza), there were only a handful. Kamala sharply rebuked them, said “I’m talking,” got a roar of applause, then they were escorted out. Was hardly a blip on the entire evening.

Speaking of protests though, police in the UK were anticipating another round of rioting by far-right mobs. But instead, peaceful anti-racism protests came out in force in dozens of locations around the Isles. The nativists, heavily outnumbered, opted to stay home.

The second time you can tell she is pissed off and gave a stare after mentioning the Orange Man. Then the audience went wild. So yeah. She’s an adult that is ready to pull the punches.

Meanwhile Trump didn’t do anything today. JD Vance did something after looking for her on her airplane.

The Ukrainian “mini invasion” of Kursk in Russia is a little odd. I could understand a raid in order to force Russia to deploy forces from other fronts but this seems to be a real offensive with the goal of taking land, or something else? (There is a large nuclear power plant in the area for instance.)

Ukraine has not said to anyone why they are doing this, even the White House seems to be in the dark on this.

The icing on that particular cake is that she apparently had met with the leaders of the protest group beforehand and expressed some openness to what they were asking for, even directing them to talk to members of her team. And they still decided to go ahead with interrupting the event.

I can’t imagine any sensible person wouldn’t be on her side, given the circumstances.

I feel like it’s going to be a while before she talks about Palestine, and whatever she says aren’t going to make some people happy regardless of what it is

I’ve been wondering this for a while, what would happen if command and control stopped being able to monitor all of their troops in Ukraine? If the toils of war and grief over losing loved ones could get a higher ranked or even a bunch of drafted individuals together to just go on a revenge tour on their own. After all, there’s an argument to be made that crossing the border effectively puts you out of range of enemy artillery and within striking distance of knocking out their infrastructure for once.

Recently Russia mentioned possible peace under the condition that it gets to keep Ukrainian land it controls plus Ukrainians cede some more of it. I guess it could be bargained down to “everyone keeps what they control”. This is unfavorable for Ukraine. (Putin will likely re-arm and attack again few years later anyway.)

So my guess is that they want to take some unfortified Russian land and reply “alright, but we get to keep some of your land”. This is something Putin simply cannot agree to, so he would need to give back some Ukrainian land in exchange for this Russian land. TL;DR it’s a way to retake Ukrainian land without having to attack heavily fortified Russians.

Speaking of military stuff, the GOP is trying to accuse Walz of “Stolen Valor” because of poor timing of his retirement.

They’re trying to claim he dipped out before his unit was deployed.

Except he had retired months before his unit got their muster and deployment orders, and he was past the age for combat deployment already. He served 24 years, and was entitled to retire as he pleased.

Vance is also a vet, 4 years as a Marine correspondent in public affairs.

Had to look her up, and I see this is a continuation of that “trans” boxer row at the Olympics. I wonder if she’s the one that J. K. Rowling was smearing as a “man” which prompted pretty much all of Taiwan to boycott her?

The sad thing is some people actually do believe her to be a dude even though the test results are from a corrupt Russian organization and Russia is kind of friends with the reason we can only call ourselves Chinese Taipei instead of Taiwan in the Olympics. I don’t know where you got that particular quote from, but as someone who has watched Mad Money for years, he has emphasized several times on that show that he doesn’t care to discuss politics, he only wants to help ordinary people understand what would work best for them to improve their income through various means (typically by recommending which stocks to buy or sell, though he does sometimes talk about things like retirement funds or how much money at minimum should first be kept in certain safer places before taking higher risks with choosing stocks yourself). Sometimes, he even acknowledges that some things that would be good for shareholders would not be good for employees.

I mean, there’s a reason he always opens his show by saying, “other people want to make friends, I’m just here to help you make some money.” He doesn’t care about any haters, he just states the facts that, from his decades of experience, would be most likely to help regular people earn more money (preferably with reliable long-term gains rather than risky get-rich-quick schemes).

It’s slightly more nuanced; he just says that if you’re rich (like he assumes the cohost is), then a tax cut will help your paycheque. After the cohost corrects him, he jokes about how that doesn’t apply to people in blue states (I assume because Trump will fuck those over).

Tim Walz was an amazing pick for many reasons. Among them is how well it spotlights how craven the GQP’s attempts at gatekeeping patriotism really is.

I heard JDV was more of a desk person in the military. Its a real career ender for him to go after a four star general and accuse them of stolen valor.
