His name is Javier Milei and he, Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro are birds of the same feather (he got the warmest congratulations for his victory from the latter two).
I don’t know much about the other candidates he beat, but Argentina has been going to shit for a while now, and I get people there are desperate.
All I know about his runoff opponent is that he was the minister of Economy from the previous government (which has been harshly blamed for being unable to solve the current crisis).
Seems like the situation was pretty much a repeat of Clinton vs. Trump, except exacerbated by the special case that’s Argentina (with an economical situation in the toilet and an utterly corrupt political class, they’ve decided to turn to the first anti-system populist loudmouth that came by).

While agreeing that their platform does, in fact, do exactly what was claimed - promoting those advertisers next to racist, incendiary content if a person follows racist and incendiary content creators.
Claiming Media Matters “defamed” Twitter in the heading and introduction, but never alleging a defamation in the suit itself.
It’s a SLAPP suit.
The only reason it was filed in Texas is that it would have been thrown out without consideration anywhere Twitter or Media Matters actually operate.
And it’s not going to fare too well in Texas, either, since none of the parties are from there. Which Texas law requires for these kinds of lawsuits.
It is propoganda. It’s an attempt to blame the advertisers leaving on the Media Matters report, instead of - you know - that whole “actual truth” thing, or the moderation on Twitter still not being up to the job that it seems they promised their advertisers they were going to do.

In the latest “We live in the Twilight Zone” news, there was a big “March for Israel” parade the other day in support for Israel. One of the speakers for the thing? John Hagee, who had some very…particular comments about Jews and Israel.
It is unsurprising that more progressive groups in attendance objected to Hagee’s presence. After all, he has a history of deeply offensive comments: that God sent Hitler to carry out the Holocaust “to help Jews reach the promised land,” that Hitler was a “half-breed Jew,” and that Israel is the only home God ever intended the Jewish people to have. One could reasonably object to this person being on a stage at a rally against antisemitism.
In another case, it’s already been told here how Musk is boosting outright anti-semitism as of late. Even the ADL has called foul on him for it, except they then immediately changed their tune when he banned “From the river to sea” posts and the head of the ADL then praised Musk for his work, despite still not backtracking his previous comments (indeed Musk is now in a lawsuit over them).
Things took a turn on Friday when, in what appeared to be a heavily workshopped message, Musk announced that people who post “from the river to the sea” and use other “euphemisms” that “necessarily imply genocide” of Israeli Jews will be banned from his social media platform. Greenblatt quickly celebrated Musk’s post.Greenblatt’s response highlights how the ADL can prioritize policing criticism of Israel and Zionism over combatting antisemitism: Musk has not apologized for his messages from just a few days ago. It keeps on happening! Phillip Fisher Jr., a Republican pastor and faith-based outreach coordinator for the Pennsylvania chapter of Moms for Liberty, has been outed for being convicted in 2012 of felony aggravated sexual abuse of a 14-year old boy.
He claims the charges were politically motivated and brought against him by a PAC associated with Lyndon LaRouche that he’d previously worked for.

I saw that too. Apparently he has outright stated Argentina has “non-negotiable” sovereignty over them. No idea if he’d be dumb enough to actually try anything, so I guess we’ll wait and see.
