If Stalin came back from the dead and signed up as a GOP candidate, he’d get the overwhelming majority of the party voting for him based solely on him being on the GOP ticket and opposed to whoever was the DEM candidate. Simple as.
And if you’re wondering how he even got this far, it’s because loud bombastic people get more attention than sane people. People voting in primaries see “Joe Shcmoe” and “Hulk Hogan” on the ballot, guess which one they’re going to vote for without spending one second looking into their positions?

When Russia says “nazi”, it doesn’t mean the racism-oriented flavor of fascism. When it says “nazi” it means “anti-Russian”. If you support Russia, you could vocally support the Holocaust and be covered from head to toe in swastikas; they still wouldn’t call you a nazi. On the other hand, you could have fought the actual Nazis during WW2, but if you oppose the Russian government, you are a “nazi” to them.

I still find it funny that, if it wasn’t for the USA vs SU tensions and the Cold War, communism might have been the religion for Christianity (idealized version of course, since all governments tend to buckle after awhile in practice).

Also if it wasn’t for the fact that communists often pushed for state atheism.
But yeah, South America tends to positively view the idea of communism, while being quite religious. If US didn’t do US things, South America might have become communist. This would not be good for them, but then pro-US dictators weren’t good for them either.

Doubt it very much, even Christian Socialists always remained confined to just a few nations (and also were a flavour of Social Democracy, not of Socialism unless I am mistaken). I think Christianity and communism have safely parted ways in the 19th century. If anything any strongly Christian government that instituted strong control of the economy would be more liable to do so from the rightist positions, and contrariwise socially progressive Christianity would be likely to look askance at the government control of the industry.

I think those are not the same South Americans. There are a lot of people in the first group and a lot in the second, but overlap is probably not that big.

Making fun of someone’s mistakes by pointedly and purposefully making an identical mistake is a time-honored tradition. Attempting to pretend that it is genuine mistake and therefore deserves equal critics, seems like purposefully missing the point. For all of our ineffectuality, would you react that way to Russian opposition figures posting distributions that add to 146% of something? Or so you hold the position that leader of a world superpower losing his memory in the office is something not worth of mockery?

I expect a decent president showing memory issues responded to with concern, not mockery outside of said mockery being done by assholes. We mock Putin because he’s a warmonger who invaded his neighbors because he’s still butthurt than the Soviet Union fell apart. And here’s a funny idea: Maybe mocking others for things outside their control like old age is a bad thing that we should stop normalizing, like how associating gay people with pedophilia was the norm.

First, she stopped FBI special agents from even glancing at the classified documents they recovered from Mar-a-Lago. Then she appointed a special court referee that former President Donald Trump wanted to slow down the investigation over his mishandling of classified documents.
But now, it’s clear District Court Judge Aileen Cannon already knew the Department of Justice was ready to hand Trump back a ton of personal records six days before she claimed the former president was suffering “a real harm” by being “deprived of potentially significant personal documents.”
The “medical records” she worried the feds might leak to the press—what she called a “risk of irreparable injury” to the former president—were actually a doctor’s note Trump himself made public when running for the White House in 2016 as part of a publicity stunt.
Either that or she’s just as every bit as extraordinarily incompetent as everyone else Trump has associated with. Trump only hires the best after all!
