Azerbaijani soldiers have been sharing videos online committing torture against Armenian soldiers and thus far no one has condemned or sanctioned Azerbaijan to hell for it.

I guess when you’re not a global economic or military power you are just like Saudi Arabia and Israel and can get away with anything. Azerbaijan can kill an American journalist covering the war and the US will still not punish them for it.

After a two-year Corona break, the Munich Oktoberfest has opened. Already in the morning, fans lined up to get a place in the beer tents. The 187th Oktoberfest takes place without Corona requirements. The weather god is not really merciful. Rain and cold temperature. But even the beer price of 13 euros for the Maß does not stop anyone from celebrating. The liquid gold delights the local people. And no one does anything illegal (in view of the discussion about the Corona regulations).

This post contains cynicism that may not be immediately apparent to everyone at first. Nevertheless, it is an absolutely truthful statement that should not prevent anyone from celebrating the festivals as they come. Considering our other problems, this is merely a small and supposed reminder that man is neither perfect nor good. But that is for everyone to decide for themselves.

In this sense: I certainly do not pay 13 euros for a Maß. But I am German enough to say: O’zapft is! Prost! Und Glück auf!

A common throughline with Republicans is the more you learn about their stunts the worse it gets.

In this case it’s DeSantis’ human trafficking. First is that the migrants were trying to apply for asylum status. So they aren’t migrants, they’re refugees.

Second was that not only were they told they were heading to Boston for jobs and shelter, they were given misleading documents with near random addresses all over the country. An immigrant, whether a normal migrant or asylum seeker, is required by border customs enforcement to check in with designated immigration facilities. Penalty for failing to do so is immediate deportation. DeSantis set these people up for failure.

Third is that they didn’t even notify Martha’s Vineyard. The residents there suddenly found 50 foreigners who don’t even speak English just wandering trying to figure out what they were supposed to do.

DeSantis and goons are monsters. I know that’s the common refrain with the GQP, but DeSantis needs singling out since if Trump isn’t the next Republican presidential candidate it will likely be DeSantis. He’s giving a preview on how much he cares about law and basic humanity.

Republicans are lemmings. Many things prove they are incapable of individuality, but in this case it’s how they not only latched on to DeSantis’ random “GROOMER!” deflection for to justify his homophobia, it’s also how now Texas Governor Greg Abbott has following in DeSantis’ footsteps by shipping busloads of migrants to Harris’ home.

Chances are we’re going to see more human trafficking as the GQP embrace this idea as their entire persona. Again.

I never understand people who say “what about knife deaths” when gun violence is being discussed.

Look, knives can be deadly but they lack range unless thrown meaning that they can’t be immediately used again by said attacker until retrieved which takes a lot longer than reloading a gun would.

When a knife can kill another person well outside of usual stabbing range without having to be thrown and retrieved, then you can start discussing them being just as hazardous as guns but until then:

Not all liberals are the same, I shouldn’t even be liberal; A lot of people in my demographic are actually right wing, paranoid, and racists, because they’re too stupid to see their real problems.

Paranoia and avoidance is their defining character trait. They hate people because they’re afraid of change. The Grand Old Party is paralyzed by fear, they actually want change but are afraid of the sacrifice. Race is just an easy target for people who don’t know shit.

They’re afraid of people seeing atmospheric carbon levels, They’re afraid of a man loving another man, they’re afraid of the middle class standing up and flipping the table.
