They have. Illinois and Virginia for example have made vote by mail a permanent thing.

I'm curious who was the 1 opposed. Since Beyer wrote the majority, I'm going to assume it was a conservative judge that voted no. If I had to guess, I'd say the culty bimbo but that's just a personal bias.

- never mind, it was Thomas. Should have figured.

I'm not overly familiar with Houellebecq, TBH. Some consider him a literary genius, others view him as overrated, shallow and gratuitously provocative (he's one of those leftist intellectuals who dropped Hollande for Macron, yet tends to have the characters of his books express some pretty controversal positions which contribute to blur the lines). Like Michel Onfray (who, while critical of his writing style, praised him as a "mirror of nihilism"), he's also a resolute atheist and has had some harsh words against Islam as a "dangerous religion, thankfully doomed from being undermined by capitalism" in the wake of 9/11.
IIRC, the book you're talking about had been pretty controversal back when it was released, but said controversy was quickly overshadowed by the Charlie-Hebdo attack, after which he stopped its promotion (ironically, the issue of Charlie published the day of the attack dedicated its cover to him* and also contained a rather glowing review in which Bernard Maris, a good friend of his who counted among the victims, praised his book as a masterpiece and denied the accusations of islamophobia against it).

*Translation: "The predictions of Magus Houellebecq: 'In 2015, I'll lose my teeth… In 2022, I'll do Ramadan.'"
Other bit of dramatic irony: cartoonist Luz, who drew this cover, had his 43rd birthday that very same day, and because of that was late to the editorial meeting where the carnage occured, only to cross the path of the terrorists on their way out, where they thankfully failed to recognize him.

Whoa. I didn't know it also had the unfortunate timing of being in the same timeframe as the Charlie Hebdo attack.

Good to know he at least had enough knowledge to know that Islam + Socialism could theoretically save a terminally ill France. But that kinda means amputating a lot of things that makes France, France.

Welcome to westernization, my nibba! That kinda what happened to my ancestor too. You'll grow to love it. Heck, your grandson wouldn't even know it.

A break from talking about the sinking ship that is America and instead a question into another Hornet Hive:

RELIGION.

I might've asked something like this before but whatever:

Why don't Devil Worshipper Cults have large scale terrorist organizations like the KKK or ISIS?

Are they just that laid back?

The Satanic Church is technically atheistic and super chill.

Actual Satanists tend to be chill as well. Or at the very least, entirely self oriented. I.e., they keep to themselves and focus entirely on their own happiness and hedonism. This is true of most Left Hand Path religions.

As for right hand paths, Paganism, Wicca, New Age, etc, we stick to ourselves and our groves/covens/heathenries as well. There's always a couple of eco terrorists among the New Agers, but that's about it.

One of the standard refrains of faiths like these are anti-evagelical. We don't preach to convert.

Funny how the alleged devil-worshippers appear to be for the most part more level-headed and reasonable than many militant christians, isn't it?

You have a tendency to derail the entire thread with "What about this thing? Everyone fight about this so I can watch!" posts which in and of themselves are actually not ok in this containment zone. You should please stop that.

I like the ADF mostly because they encourage actual scholarship of the old myths, and they're one of the only modern Pagan groups that fund a military chaplaincy program.

@Goku Black

Satan is a symbol. The ultimate free spirit that stood up to a tyrannical God and said "fuck no". He's also a symbol of the antithesis of Christianity and Islam, the two groups that modern Satanists are most opposed to. So it's a great way to rile them up.
