You know, I get having frustration with the people here. I really, really do. It’s a heavily Republican state and there are a lot of rather moronic people in it who have bought into Trump’s lies and protested mask mandates and put us in the unfortunate predicament we’re now in. But it’s still my home. A place I grew up and went to school in, and a place I keep fighting to change for the better. So I’d very much appreciate it if, for the sake of someone like me, who despises Donald Trump with every fiber of his being, and has social distanced and avoided going anywhere and absolutely worn a mask (and sometimes gloves) every time he’s ventured outside since March and spent almost every day since the pandemic started worrying about his elderly parents who also live here, you’d not just write off everyone and everything up here as somehow not worth saving.

I think one problem in both cases is that it’s not only a political thing but a cultural one. Different customs, values, traditions that are tied to “flyover country” are at the very least taken as a sign of you being a enemy and at most something itself that is seen as negative and wrong by a fair bit of your tribe.
 
It saddens me that if either of you said this on twitter among a normal left of center friend group you could get cancelled (especially what Zincy said).
 
The right is developing a similar hatred for liberal states, though perhaps a little less sting directed at passive cultural traits. Conversely I’d say you see right wing attitudes less geographically tied with stuff against millennials, cities, etc in general that arguably can reach that same level.
 
Of course as a Texan it is my duty to bash California and vice versa

Most want amendments to it, However, Trump and hardline Republicans want to outright repeal it over the false claim that sites like Twitter are “Biased against conservatives”.

Apple Jack is of the normal vaguely southern/country archetype common in American media and such characters are a dime a dozen without good writing and I’ll admit, AJ was mixed I expect things on the sort term may get worse. I mean, rural areas, it was hell to grow up as LGBT,and in many places racism persists*, so naturally in a broadening of perspectives (and we already see that)you are going to have people that hate everything about that culture and media made around it. On the other end there is also an environment where a lot of people are informed by some variant poststructuralist deconstruction being the way the world interpreted as the solution to racism and other issues and it often has a wide array of things that it views need to get dismantled. A lot of that culture, justly or not, will be in included in that.
 
You have people who certainly embrace their home and you can find media on LGBT, black, whatever else tailored to folks with that plus a country identity but I don’t see that being emphasized and even then a lot of rural voters of diverse backgrounds have moved in closer to the rural white vote which could in theory help but also could make it worse if everyone just doubles down. Rural whites don’t just suck, rural people do is hardly better in my opinion ||most likely with an argument that they aren’t true members of their race or whatever in some circles. ||
 
How to bridge that divide? Honestly a character like AJ could help if written well. Though I’m not sure how someone left leaning would navigate that in fiction right now.
 
*Note: my own views are in strong disagreement for the simple reduction of rural culture being the most intolerant of USA but that’d be a whole other ballpark.

I’ve been following 230 for quite awhile now and most of the proposals aren’t a full out repeal (They’re still pretty bad though and am not defending the lawmakers), But instead very questionable amendments.  
Hollywood isn’t targeting 230 per-say, They’re targeting the DMCA’s Section 512 safe harbour, I’M NOT DEFENDING THEM BY POINTING THAT OUT!

If these companies stopped meddling with fully legal statements then 90% of this would go away immediately. But they don’t and one has to wonder why. Is there a political agenda?

That may be what he claims, but he probably won’t have it his way. He’s just salty that all his tweets about election fraud are being flagged and that he lost nearly 50,000 followers since the beginning of the week. I look forward for his account’s overdue suspension as soon as his term expires.

And these Conservatives here in America need to stop with this “War on Christmas” nonsense, their religious holiday has been the staple of capitalism for decades now.

Lads, christmas is a secular holiday at this point. It dont mean jack shit religiously BUT, it does mean A LOT culturally for every Americans no matter what the religion.
