Well, the funny thing is that Hitler pushed for the name change of the DAP (Deutsche Arbeiter Partei - German Worker’s Party) to NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter Partei - National Socialist German Worker’s Party) because he knew that socialism/socialist parties had a long standing within the German working population. It quite literally was a scam to trick voters which at the time wasn’t very successful. Ironically it is today with certain groups.
 
So every time someone makes the “but it was called socialist…” argument, just congratulate them for falling for Hitler’s scam.

I think people like to imagine a world where they are victims and fighting back against an oppressive bad guy. This is why in 2016 the news was running constant reports about how Trump would never accept the election results when he wins and this whole year you’ve seen random theories about how Trump could cancel the election, or steal it. I saw one theory about how certain states that vote Biden could refuse to officially vote and then the House will pick Trump.
 
It’s like some strange victim fetish game. People are getting off to imagining crazier and crazier scenarios. Oh, and yes the same thing happened with Bush Jr and Obama.
