Okay, and just how focused were Democrats on culture wars this year? If you count abortion as a culture war issue, then yes the case can be made. But the only time I have heard anything trans-related out of their ads and campaigning this year was to deny or deflect Republican accusations about what they support for trans minors and undocumented immigrants.

Also: I actually would have been very much in favor of going BACK in time to the pre-equestrian dark ages, so long as they played it straight with what that part of the setting looks like in canon. It’s a fascinating part of the setting, and would be a great way to explore the issues with racism etc!
Except if they did that, it would be harder to have the friend group start out united. They couldn’t tie magic to ‘don’t be racist!’ (even though the early Equestrians literally have ‘don’t be racist or you’ll die’ hanging over their heads) - it was a big problem back then, but it would be hard for them to have an activist heroine who was pushing for unity from the start, which I would argue is even more on the nose than much of the rest of it. Sunny herself is a bit of a political construct, it’s pretty much baked into her as a character, being an activist. She would consider HERSELF political.

The whole diversity thing is such a fucking sham. Like, it’s so obviously an attempt to force conversation via manipulation of current political turmoil and people, knowing that, still fall for it.

That’s not what I want at all. What I want is for them to stop making bad media and when criticised for the movie being shit, pulling up a youtube excerpt of a guy being racist and saying “see? that’s you!”

Previously, I commented on the massive spike of American women looking into the 4B Movement. Now, thankfully, others are starting to come forward warning that’s not a good idea.
I’m gonna be honest, the 4B movement is reactionary and really dumb and counterproductive.
I 100% understand why women do it, mostly out of hurt and fear, but also how does forcing yourself into the stereotype incels have made up of women actually accomplish anything?
Also it’s full of TERFs.
Basically it’s almost as toxic as the West’s MGTOW (men going their own way), just for women instead. And both the Korean and emerging American variants are not kind to trans women or sex workers.

Yep! And it’s quickly falling out of style now that fascist influencers like Robby Starbuck are getting them to yank down their DEI programs and pull out of Pride sponsorships just by naming and shaming them and threatening to get a boycott put together. It’s been quite successful, albeit just in sectors that cater to clientele who are often conservative-coded (Tractor Supply Co, Ford, Harley-Davidson, those kinds of companies).

Yeah inclusivity sells sometimes.
The bigger media is, the more money that is involved, the more vapid and people pleasing the artistic work becomes. We got a vapid capitalistic people pleaser soon to be president again, nothing new.
You all got to vote for smaller government too, you should be involved in local politics, not just the president. Buy games and media from smaller people, the stories will be real (and when they are gay it will be a real gay, not rainbow capitalism).

I can confirm this as well. It’s very rare that I touch AAA games anymore, and usually only because I got it free from Epic Games’s platform. And when the indie game is gay, oh lordy is it ever gay and I demand nothing less!
ETA: I follow local and county elections and referernda when I can. Need to get more people around me on that. I’d run for office myself, but I’m NOT a people-pleaser nor am I extroverted.

Are you familiar with Star Wars? Disney went all in with this stuff on it. Men turns useless, women take charge, each movie/show have quotas of people that need to be filled, themes that must be present or are banned etc. Used to be fun but is now kind of a bore to watch. Should make tons of money but now has to cancel shows since people don’t watch them. My go to example when the question is asked.
If you base your political ideology based on the critical quality of a Star Wars movie, I sincerely recommend seeing a therapist
