Which he did before. But all it took was him saying “Kung Flu” and his supporters laughed themselves apoplectic.
Of Trump makes good on any of his promises the economy will crash again, and all he has do is say “uh, Biden” and his supporters will lap up the scapegoat same as before.

It’s become clear to me that treating people with fairness, equality, and all that stuff just isn’t important to people anymore. Let alone the whole “where all men are created equal” thing.
It’s gotten so clearly bad that I’ve almost stopped caring too. Like Ive given up completely.

The popular vote victory here is coming from states that were never competitive to begin with.
If you want to be cynical, fine, but it’s not healthy and does absolutely nothing. Just remember that nothing’s static in politics.

This week has only made me start to slip into the cynical pattern. Especially after all the positive signs. I don’t try to read polls, but I read vibes. Enthusiasm from women voters who wanted to take their rights back. People who were disgusted at that asshole disguised as a comedian calling Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage. Reports that many of the late deciders were breaking for Harris after said “comedian”.
Yet it all went to hell regardless.
So I’m experiencing a major disillusionment and borderline cynicism in the country, it’s people, and the positive things we stand for.
…I don’t want this guys.

Here’s the secret.
Neither side’s voters think their side is going to do the monstrous things that the other side says that their side will do.
The kind of nightmare scenarios we’ve been hearing about Trump’s campaign aren’t what people who voted for him voted for. They didn’t vote for hate, they probably voted for things that YOU want, but had different ideas of how to get there.
The same is true of every politician in every country.
People are generally good. They just have different ideas of how to get to the place that they both want to get to. That is, barring complete disagreement on consensus reality (e.g. things like the abortion debate)

Makes sense. But I would add a tablespoon of “voters don’t know or care about these things” to it too.
I think the same voters are going to be surprised and appalled when they try to do a horrible thing they didn’t expect would happen. But people like me knew they would.
But the hate like the user below said, that’s a major factor in people too. That I’ll never understand in people.

Nobody wants to think they are fascist, but it’s easy for them to endorse fascism when Hannity or Ingraham et al tells them ‘It’s not fascism, it’s protecting the border it’s about the rule of law’.

Apparently a whole bunch of votes for Trump aren’t showing any downballot votes for GOP candidates, especially Senate candidates who’ve been trying to emulate his MAGA rhetoric and policy.
That should make him and the GOP very worried. Would make his victory a pyrrhic one because MAGA is unsustainable in the long-term. If he dies - which is very plausible given how he’s more low-energy, more irrelevant and more washed than he’s ever been - it’s highly unlikely anyone else will be able to take up the mantle of MAGA leadership and steer it as effectively as he did. And that’s an issue because the GOP without Trump will be even more rudderless than the Democrats are right now.
