Do you mean someone who comes to their conclusions on their own?

Nobody exists in a vacuum. None of us have original ideas, including you. We all get our ideas from someone else, because all knowledge is based on information that was already a built foundation from decades, centuries, or even millenia ago.
As for ‘echo chamber’, you can put that onto fascism as the cause of that. Ever since Trump the Dump attempted to overthrow the republic of the United States with an angry mob, got away with it with a slap on the wrist, and went on to fully take over the Republican Party, it made plain that America was facing a major threat of fascism that many hadn’t realized before. Anyone defending that bastard either was deluded by their echo chamber and Trump’s numerous lies, or were accepting of fascist ideology, neither of which will be tolerated.
If you want to know about echo chambers, compare r/politics and r/conservative. The former is left-leaning because a majority of the right-wingers left to r/conservative, which is a heavily-policed echo chamber where anything that isn’t in favor of their worldview gets immediately banned.
Because that is absolutely independent thinking. /s
So take a chill pill. If you want to debate policies, debate policies, but you gotta get off your high horse and debate others as equals if you want anyone to listen to you.

Love how you didn’t even bother responding to my response to @CaptainXtra, which answers your question perfectly.
Also, this isn’t merely about “what you’re allowed to say”, it’s about how the present day environment of this thread that @poisontrail and I pointed out completely contradicts your assertion of “leftist ideals value independent thinking”, when clearly, no such Carlinesque independent thinking exists in this predominantly Reddit-like thread.
Are you intentionally trying to be clueless on this matter? Because it unfortunately seems like it.

No matter how big of a threat Trump is and will ever be, you cannot realistically argue or imply with a straight face that you are not on your own high horse when talking about both topics, like this, if you’re also saying that being on a high horse is a bad/off-putting thing.

Correct. That’s one of the big issues.
Another big issue? A frequent resorting to utilizing the TWEETS of popular Twitter or Threads users who happen to oppose Trump or conservatism (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but that’s beyond the point), To make the point of one’s own argument or stance, rather than relying solely on reputable news sources, and reputable scholarly sources.
The Redditor allegations ain’t gonna be beaten so long as that phenomena continues to go on unquestioned, here.

Sure I can. Trump straight up had a Nazi rally just like a week ago.
You can rag about high horses and snootiness all you want, but by default you are on the correct side when you are opposing actual modern day Nazism.

Oh by the way Trump is once again wishing violence on his enemies (re: journalists who just quote him).

In a statement, campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung denied that Trump was wishing harm upon the media.”
President Trump was brilliantly talking about the two assassination attempts on his own life, including one that came within 1/4 of an inch from killing him, something that the Media constantly talks and jokes about,” Cheung said. “The President’s statement about protective glass placement has nothing to do with the Media being harmed, or anything else.”
Cheung claimed that the former president was really implying the media was in danger and “should have had a glass protective shield, also.”
But his remarks Sunday came as Trump has been escalating both his attacks on the press and his use of violent rhetoric in the closing days of his third presidential campaign. The former president last week suggested Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney, who is supporting his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, should “face nine barrels shooting at her” in an apparent attack on her hawkish views.
That’s great man. It’s the best thing about Trump.
Whenever some chud somehow insinuates that it’s bad and wrong to oppose Dear Leader, you only have to wait 5 minutes max before Trump reminds everyone that he’s is as bad as he’s accused of.

Makes me wonder what kind of place would constitute as a haven for independent thought, something like 4chan? Prides itself off being mildly moderated and fully embracing the anonymity aspect… meaning 90% of threads devolve into pure trolling since there’s no accountability and nothing matters anyways.
I still remember 2019/2020, when you’d see lynch threads of users on here pushing back against the far right trying to co-opt Derpi into being a Nazi recruitment tool. Countless anonymous users spewing toxic bile on whoever they could ID while being untouchable themselves.
It bears repeating: an ideology that is based off infiltrating established systems and undermining them from within is incompatible with a healthy society. There’s no “bothsideism” possible when the only middle ground considered is “fascism with a cherry on top” that sets aside the extreme shit for now.
