People keep talking about Republican “overconfidence,” this election, but it just makes me think that they have a plan to take the White House by less than legal means in the event they lose.

Mind you, I’m not saying that it’s a smart or effective plan, and I do NOT expect them to succeed unless the Dems roll over. Old Joe is many things, but I doubt he’d hand the country over that easy.

He spent the first half of his presidency letting Machinema run the country, then spent the last quarter letting Israel torpedo any shot at reelection.

Man spent 40 years - half his life and damn near half a century - trying to be president and when he finally the got Weekend at Bernie’s across the finish line, he spent his entire term abdicating the role to everyone else.

I have no doubt in my mind that they’ll deploy some haphazard skullduggery. But, I think their reach and power is much smaller than they realize.

It’s pretty obvious that the “Secret” he claims to have with Mike Johnson is to have him declare a contested election, ignore the entire democratic process and have the current House of Representatives each have one vote.

This has about the same legal standing as their whole concept about Pence being able to overturn the 2020 elections through a mix of procedural and legalese loopholes allowing him to technically do so.

Ultimately, I do feel that they’ll still go all-in on election day. Their guy will declare “absolute victory, the greatest of all time”, refuse to take questions and retreat to social media in order to bring the lie into reality. The billionaires backing him will similarly flood the zone with bullshit and directly micromanage the media into putting legitimacy into pure falsehoods.

This is the endgame of one individual that has lived their entire life free of consequences. We’re going to see the core tenets of an ideology spawned out of pure privilege: Attack, attack, attack, always deny, never concede and “Fuck you, I won”.

It becomes moot if Dems take the House. New House Reps are sworn in a day or two before certification.

If Reps keep the House then Johnson will totally bend the knee for his Orange Messiah. Trump already admitted some kind of fix is in place, because of course he did, and Johnson is yet another MAGA toady.

But if Johnson isn’t the Speaker by the time of certification then their plans are moot. So once again, as banal and soy as it sounds, Democracy really depends on you getting out to vote.

All of that is moot. Kamala is the VP, she can certify the results and thus give the GOP-led house the middle finger.

I voted for the candidate who is not a fascist retard, a Russian asset, an anti-vaccine lunatic, or a nobody from an inconsequential party.

While it would be funny if Kamala, in the event of a Trump victory, just plays a recording of Trump telling Pence he has the power to not certify, she really doesn’t.

If Trump wins she must certify. It’s gonna suck, but I kinda like (read:cope) the fact that one of the political parties still believes in this Democracy thing.

Don’t look now but it looks like Biden’s “garbage” gaffe is fading away already. Guessing normal people saw how weird conservatives were getting and decided “deplorables, this is not”.

I feel that no matter who wins, it’ll start a war. If Harris wins, Trump pulls another January 6 and the second US Civil War begins. If Trump wins, he’ll likely start World War III over some inane insult. Either way, I’m expecting Darren Duck in the aftermath.
