California Governor Gavin Newsom continues to demonstrate he is a piece of shit. In the wake of ordering states to start “cleaning up” homeless encampments (that is, sending in the cops to arrest them en masse with all the accompanying human rights abuses and brutality that entails), he has now said in an appearance in LA that he will start “redirecting” state funding away from cities that do not crack down. “We’ll send that money to counties that produce results,” he stated.

Because why solve the housing crisis by building more housing and cracking down on the venture capitalists buying it all up and sitting on it to inflate prices when you can just make it illegal to be homeless?

It might make California vote for a republican instead of him again.

Honestly I think at this point the California GOP is on its last legs outside the interior, “the State of Jefferson,” and a shrinking portion of Orange County. The Democratic primaries are increasingly what decides the candidate. And since a critical number of Californians are asshole NIMBY Karens and Kevins, well that’s why the state is the way it is.

Oh yeah I alluded to that as well, albeit not in as much detail as I should have. Also the perverse incentives built into the way the state’s property taxes have been set up since the 1970’s.

I’m legitimately expecting there to eventually be a 16 hour long Ken Burns style documentary on this year, and that will be the version where they had to cut a lot for time.

The last thing California needs is a Republican governor. I do wish the state got a better Democrat interested in progressive policies as their governor, however.

Elon Musk “wins” his advertisement lawsuit as “Global Alliance for Responsible Media initiative” shuts down, citing lack of resources.

Having seen the effects activists like this can have on who can and cannot speak, this is a good thing for ❄-🍑. On Youtube over the last few years this very thing has happened, activists started meddling and all of a sudden companies become concerned over what video their ad were on. This devastated a lot of channels. It affected game channels, gun channels, political commentary and more very negatively. It had a ❄-lling effect on public discourse.

Meanwhile Ukraines offensive inside Russia continues and they seem to be wreaking havoc. It seems the Russians are moving reserves from Donetsk as well, so for now this is a PR and tactical win for Ukraine.
