See, the problem with this idea is that technically speaking, Harris was already on the primary ticket that people voted for. The campaign was the Biden/Harris campaign from the start of this election cycle. This isn’t the party elites taking the votes away from the voters to shove their pick in, it’s simply a transfer from one name on the ticket to the other name on the ticket, with a new name to come in later.

They’d only have something remotely resembling a case if it was anyone else but Harris. Sure, it did look like Biden was forced out, but the dude still left on his own volition, and he is the one who picked who will take up the torch.

Gonna be honest, this one looks a lil fishy.

I wouldn’t say the assertion is wrong, but at the same time I think something like 79% of polled Democrat voters said they would prefer Biden step aside. So he did.

I get where they are coming from with how Harris became the default nominee, but as stated above she was technically on the Biden ticket, which did technically win what was technically the Democrat primary.

So yeah there’s a few hoops and roundabouts to jump through but everything was still more or less democratic. A lot more so than what the DNC did to Bernie at least. *Twice.*

I thought Biden wouldn’t do it but he did. He is giving Kamala the torch. And she is running with it.

Meanwhile Trump spent all of this time with attack ads against Biden was thrown out. And the Reps are trying to find some excuses. But they don’t have any. The impeachment will be thrown away.

Hell they can’t even use her as a black person. Because. They don’t want to seem racist. This is fun. I love it. It’s Obama all over again only better.

The fun thing is that Obama was facing someone who was actually popular and people really liked (And for good reason, McCain proved himself an honorable politician, even if his VP pick ended up being a mistake [sounds familiar, eh?]); That could have been much closer if it weren’t for the economy crashing.

If Harris can tap into even half of that sort of energy, Trump is absolutely screwed.

I’ve never really put much value in primaries and believe that the parties should just field whatever candidates they see as the best and most qualified.

The “democracy” part comes in the voting for them for office. If they lose, the party goes back to the drawing board for the next time.

On the other bit, it looks like prices are starting to come back down a bit. Also a lot of people really like having a younger face in the race.

I think if Biden gives an impassioned, strong speech justifying and supporting his choice to back out and endorse Harris tonight, it will give her even more of a momentum push than she already has.

It’s not a necessity, but it would certainly help. Hopefully Biden can channel the full power of Dark Brandon and give one hell or a speech.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but folks on Twitter are speculating that the timing of his withdrawal and his endorsement of Kamala was deliberately calculated to screw over both the Republicans (after they’d gone all in at the RNC at framing their campaign around him specifically) AND the Pelosites who were plotting to force Kamala off the ticket as well in favor of Dean Phillips or some other generic white dude.

No idea if that’s true or not, but if it is, that’s Brandon at his darkest.

It’s only been like 2 days and they already hit their N Word quota. I didn’t even know they had one.

Vote.org has seen a 700% spike in new registrations. A larger spike than when Taylor Swift broke the site by telling her fans to register.

The GQP is still work-shopping a narrative. One of them is that Kamala hasn’t given birth yet.

I’m starting to doubt they’ll ever find a narrative that isn’t a self report.
She has step-kids.

I’ve seen lots of Gen Z and under folk say they’re actually planning to vote now.

Hell, I’ve heard some fat old white vets at my work talking about how they’re going to vote for Harris. I normally hear a never ending stream of “Trump 2024” shit from a lot of them, but that’s slowing down. Project 2025 has helped, cause a lot of them think the Republicans are going to take away their vet benefits and shutdown the VA.

Republicans think that everyone hates the VA, while in truth most vets I speak with love it. They say it can be annoying, and frustrating to work with, but so can every hospital. A good chunk of them do not take kindly to talk of taking any of it away.

You know, I always thought that the HOI4 modern day mod Millennium Dawn was ridiculous and memey overall (and I still do,) but in particular I found it silly to think that completing a handful of national foci and picking the right choices in scripted events could shift the US so drastically over the course of a year.

Now that I think about it, this might be similar to the kind of phenomenon that got Trump elected in 2016, when many people didn’t want another Clinton or Bush to the point where they were willing to go with whoever was the most popular “new guy” (regardless of all the warnings we were getting from all the so-called experts at the time).

This time, everyone knows what to expect from both Trump and Biden, and it’s obvious that many people do not approve of either, so now it’s time once more to give “the new guy” (or girl, in this case) a chance and see if that can make things any better.

And Biden passing the torch to a younger ward to finish the fight after he’s been “knocked out”, to come from behind and win, is an appealing story.
