As the former has twice the population of the latter, I fail to see how that’s supposed to be surprising (also kinda deceptive, given that over 70% of Los Angeles County voted for Biden — and even in the once-conservative bastion of Orange County, he managed to beat Trump by 9 points).

Don’t blame the residents for having a corrupt, reactionarian police force when most of the cops in the country lean that way.

I’ve seen enough Mock the Week to know that they still have a homophobic problem. And how can you find it so hard to believe that they have a problem when you love to go on about the USA being a shitshow? Are you just embracing “the grass is greener on the other side” at this point and going to extremes because of it?

70% is hardly impressive when you consider New York, Chicago and Philadelphia voted for Biden by even larger margins. And Trump’s improvements in those areas versus 2016 were less or slightly on par with the gains he got in LA.

Furthermore, LA is such a diverse metro that political trends can only tell you so much. Probably a third to a quarter of the population is either redneck or ultra-reactionary. The county voted for Proposition 8 in 2008 (it was of course declared invalid by the courts, but that’s not something LA should be proud of). A good chunk of far-right media (especially Breitbart) is housed there. And that’s not getting into the crazy number of gun stores for a supposedly deep blue metro (you thought it was just a GTA V cliché? Nope)….

(As for Orange County, Newsom lost it, Riverside and San Bernardino in November. Pitiful for a blue state governor who otherwise won reelection in a landslide, though somewhat better than how Hochul fared in New York.)

To be fair, Riverside and San Bernardino are super red.

Biden and Clinton won San Bernardino by double digits. There are now more registered Dems than Reps in both counties. Newsom won both Orange and San Bernadino counties in 2018.

Turns out that the Russian communication lines are even more poor than we knew. Many downstream Russian positions did not evacuate before the flood waters hit them. Thing about CNN’s problems is that Chris Licht, as poor as his management of the place was, was merely a scapegoat for WBD CEO’s David Zaslav’s desire to turn the network back to an era that no longer exists, if it even existed at all.

As long as Zaslav runs WBD, CNN will just keep going downhill.

I’ve heard that Russians expected a slower water release, so less places to evacuate and more time to evacuate them. They warned their troops beforehand, but said that they don’t need to hurry. They got caught by surprise when huge volumes of water poured out at once.

The civil war killed hundred of thousands of Americans and was the bloodiest conflict the US has ever fought(yes, the US suffered more casualties in the civil war than they did in WW1 and WW1)

Dude, Trump sold government secrets to our enemies. Jefferson Davis wanted to keep his idea of what the USA should be intact. Both are bad, but Trump is the bigger traitor.
