See, you’d think that, but the number of businesses that refuse to pay their workers a higher wage shows they’re not as dedicated to the free market as you. Or when massive banks beg for government bailouts while funding politicians who look down on so called, “welfare queens.”

“Bailout” is something of a red flag for me. Just seeing it makes me prone to think that it’s a bad idea. If a company can’t keep turning a profit, it should go out of business, otherwise it isn’t as much of a free market anymore.

Instantly going to “it’s all fake” is very very close to the narrative some people push about how every white kid that shoots up a place and had a 4chan manifest was actually tricked into doing it by the FBI and otherwise just a sweet little angel concerned about local community issues.

I mean, the idea of a free market is that the ones that are actually good and profitable will survive and grow, and the ones that aren’t well designed or aren’t selling what’s being demanded will go out of business. It’s not “everyone wins,” it’s “the smart ones survive.” Paying people better than minimum wage doesn’t change that, just force restaurants and the like to make people want to work for them rather than forcing them to.

Actually, when minimum wage laws were first being introduced, the ones really pushing it were racist groups that sought to price races they didn’t like out of the workplace. And it worked. Black unemployment rose after federal minimum wage laws were enacted.

Yeah, it has absolutely nothing to do with the trillions of dollars given in corporate bailouts and loans (that were all forgiven) in the last two years. Also those same corporations still had layoffs and increased prices of sold goods while profits were at an all-time high.
This is our tax money that they’re taking from us and giving straight to corporate CEOs instead of helping working class Americans.
People are always telling poor people to budget better if they don’t make enough to live, but for some reason no one ever says the same to business owners who fearmonger about a higher minimum wage. 🤔

Rail unions have been highly against this for a long time. Used to be there was 3 in the locomotives (engineer, conductor, and brakeman), and up until the 80’s, a rear brakeman and conductor in the caboose on the rear.
