You can use rice to fix the phone. My dad left his phone out in a downpour, tossed it in a bag of rice overnight, and has been using it for the last 3 years.

Worked on my camera when I left it out in a downpour for almost a day (though the mode select wheel wound up rusting solid). Got a few bags in reserve just in case.

The funny thing is studies have shown that it’s literally cheaper to just give poor people money than it is to keep them/let them stay poor.

Really. Turns out the government haggling doctor visits costs is cheaper on the government than individuals having to pay the price gouged hospital fees. Paying for housing costs less than making “Hostile Architecture” (look it up and lose faith in humanity) to scare off homeless, or paying for their incarceration when they violate one of the many laws that make being homeless illegal, or paying constantly paying for janitors or park rangers to clean up after homeless people, etc.

Poverty is a policy decision, and one made because the cruelty is the point.

It’s really disgusting how we have these “people” coming into our schools and grooming our kids to make decisions that will do permanent damage to their bodies. The surgeries they’ll get, the mental damage. Truly disgusting. And there’s so many stories of people who live that lifestyle becoming predators.

But enough about football coaches.

Germany used to have a system where you had to pay 20? euros once every 6 months if you went for a doctor’s visit. Idea being to make sure people didn’t go too often and congest things.

It was scrapped after they realized it was stopping poor sick people from getting help and leading to a reduction in the work force as people got really sick (or died) from easily preventable things.

I always thought that keeping homeless people around was a business. Along with artificial scarcity of homes.

keeping drug addicts around sure is a business. Addicts make up a very, very tiny minority of people ~<1% and in the case of opiods have a very high mortality rate*. So lots of big rehab businesses don’t want their customer base going clean, which is why they have a very low success rate.

*(a vast majority of pain killer addicts don’t recover, they die painkiller addicts)
