If it’s repealed the Copyright Gestapo will go all in and you won’t be able to even post a screencap of a cartoon because the internet companies will be so afraid of getting sued. And if you post an opinion or story a company doesn’t like they can force the IC to remove it and ban you.

@Wiimeiser
If you publish a newspaper, you’re legally responsible for the content in it. So you could get sued if one of the articles is defamatory, even if it was written by someone else.
Section 230 says this doesn’t apply to online content providers, like social media. So Twitter can’t get sued if someone writes a defamatory tweet. This applies even if the content is moderated - Twitter can choose to remove some tweets, but this doesn’t make them a legal publisher and they still can’t get sued.
Promoting terrorism is illegal (it isn’t protected by the First Amendment), but Section 230 protects Google from being sued for displaying pro-terrorism videos on YouTube. However in the current Supreme Court case, the plaintiffs are arguing that recommending pro-terrorism videos through the YouTube algorithm is different from moderation and thus isn’t covered by Section 230.
@lonewolf
I believe copyright is already excluded from Section 230 - that’s why YouTube is so strict with their takedown requests.

Somehow Omnipresent?
Death of 230 basically means every site with a presence in the US (hosted there, offices there, employees there, etc.) has to shut down all user generated content (comments, posts, blog, tweets, images), as the companies would be held immediately responsible for the content of each.
That is, if some guy on Twitter says “We should kill Biden”, then legally that would be considered Twitter itself making death threats about the president.
Basically it would turn the internet into a complete dystopia where 99% of sites are just static storefronts and the very few that had any UGC (comments, image uploads, etc.) would have extremely strict pre-moderation.
Fun.

It always gets framed as a gotcha when anti-choice men pay for their mistresses’ abortions, but it’s not a contradiction. The principle is not against abortion; it’s in favor of male control of women’s bodies.
Background Pony #0847
You nay talk about the “real” real reason, but most of the rhetoric is centered on the sanctity of life, and it seems to be pulling in support from the corners which would not want to champion men controlling women’s bodies phrased as such. So unless you want just to sound clever by half, it is a pretty clear-cut case of hypocrisy.

Speaking of pros, is the only difference between pro-life and pro-choice (other than the people who use the former to be sexist) is the point the fetus is considered a baby?

Pro choice includes the concept of the value of self. The right to control your own body, and to make your own medical choices with your family and personal doctor, in private.
When surrogate mothers are compensated for their carrying the child it is a recognition of the value of their own body, and that carrying the child for someone else is a burden.
In “red states” the state forces rape victims to carry the child of their attackers, without compensation, without any recognition of their right to make their own medical choices, or to have control over their own bodies.
It is not just about whether the thing in the womb is a fetus or a human.
It’s is also about whether a human should be free to make their own choices where their own body is concerned.

I’m not talking about the republican version of pro-“life,” but pro-life itself. What I’m talking about is the key difference (me saying it was the only difference was a mistake on my part) between the two sides. Last I heard, pro-life would consider someone 8 month pregnant too late for an abortion since the fetus is a baby at that point.

IIRC even pro choice advocates don’t allow third trimester abortions unless the fetus is unviable or a danger to the mother. Everyone more or less agrees that at 8 months in it’s a baby.
The divide in good faith circles is exactly when a fetus stops being a clump of cells and a person before that.
