For years I posted all kinds of fun edits and stuff on derpi, this why my place to just enjoy silly pony stuff.
Then it became more and more clear this place was being actively targeted by degenerate fascists and literal nazis. Idiots who apparently think ‘friendship is magic’ and a show that’s all about accepting others for being different doesn’t count for anything.

I got sick and tired of warning and arguing against the disturbing, overt trend of insecure idiots giving in to fascist ideology, so I left.

Is this place still a festering cesspool of nonsense like ‘oh its fine for fascists and nazis to hang out here and preach their gospel’, or has it been cleaned up at all?

You know, since this thread is about cringe bronies in general. And you can’t get much more cringe than combining fascism with cute cartoon horses.

It was attempted back in 2020 but largely failed. Nazi uploads are still allowed on the site, though comments endorsing it get removed under a blanket “no politics” rule.

Most of the more overt 4chan-aligned bigots are boycotting this site, though many more anti-bigots are after Derpi caved and reversed course on the Nazi ban.

FIMfiction is very much a safe haven for them, again enabled by “no politics in pony.” Meaning “no left-of-center politics.”

People on the fringe tend to think so. The logic being that you are doing nothing and therefore you are enabling the “enemy”. So by doing nothing you are letting the socialists take over, or doing nothing you are letting the Nazis grow in power.

Sweden has announced that they do, indeed, plan to apply to NATO. The Social Democrats, the largest and longest serving ruling party of modern Sweden announced today that their caucus supports joining NATO, this comes after the PM and various ministers had already put forward the idea. The SD party had, for decades, been fiercely opposed to joining NATO, but recent events have seen an unprecedented shift in their policy.

Turkey has also clarified that they (supposedly) have no intention of saying no to Sweden and Finland, and that they merely have “concerns” about some of their policies, particularly toward the Kurds. It remains to be seen how they respond but it is doubtful that Erodgen would openly move against them joining. It would likely be disastrous for him on the geopolitical side of things.

It’s absurd and messed up, but the answer is can be summed up as “No, except yes.”

The short version is: if “Left Wing” ideology is about social change (ie, “Progress”) and “Right Wing” ideology is about social preservation (ie, “Conserve”), then not picking either/refusing to participate altogether leads to a default outcome of preserving the status quo, ie the “Conservative” outcome.

As an example, during the Civil Rights movement the “Left Wing” position was that blacks et al should have rights. The “Right Wing” position was that the current status quo where they didn’t should be maintained. ‘Standing on the side lines’ meant you didn’t support for or against black rights, but since your inaction meant the status quo wouldn’t change you were technically helping the “Right Wing” position of preserving that status quo.

Dr. MLK bemoaned this scenario with his comments about “White Moderates”, so yeah this concept has been well known in America for decades.

A minority group in the Middle East. Their is a large Kurdish minority in Turkey and the two sides have been in conflict for awhile now.

But wouldn’t the same be true for people withholding their opinions about changes the left wants to do. Just because someone is advocating for change, doesn’t mean that change is good. Both sides could blame apolitical people for their loss and i think its a ridiculous stance.

A lot of people just want to live their life and want to stay out of it and heck, i wish i had the amount of not giving a fuck again to return to that. Frankly, where i see a bigger issue is people playing politics but not really: people constantly on the fence jerking both sides off while trying to offend neither by never committing to one side on any subject. I am not quite sure what the point of that is, but it sure as heck is annoying to witness.

On apoliticalism/centrism however, I really do despise the mentality that being in the middle or not participating in politics makes you complicit morally or inherently against “X side”, or not being onboard with all of whatever interest group your apart of makes one just some right wing self hating bigot or something. It’s not something that just exists on the left either. I encounter this mentality on the right pretty often as well. Frankly, there were people who were mad at my mother who kept my her Facebook page largely free of politics, keeping it pleasant and happy, for her mother/my grandmother who was dying of cancer at the time. (not accusing you guys of that, but I often that mentality taken to that level). Somethings matter more then constant political advocacy and action.

I suppose I would be talking to largely a left of center audience here with this. I know of Dr Martin Luther King’s bemoaning of white moderates and I want to try to be respectful of the idea that “if our society can be unjust and racist/whatever other social ill the our society must be that way now.” Giving no moral weight to anything other then progress though is also a folly.

In 2020, a left leaning journalist, Lee Fang posted what was widely dismissed as just a token spewing white talking points. He soon apologized it for among sever other tweets.

In 2021, New York elected a mayor who had very strong rhetoric and speaks in even harsher terms then that. In the Democratic primaries, it wasn’t the wealthy whites who wanted a a token avatar either but people who had suffered in the most in the summer of riots and crime increases. Does that mean that because these people elected mean you all should be pro-police “back the blue” types? No! (I also think that Eric Adams is both corrupt and yet, a little more complicated then his critics on either side admit. That is a whole other topic however). Point is, someone not marching along with whatever your side in the now shouldn’t be so readily dismissed and people can have other legitimate interests and issues.
