But it also made them adopt watered-down socialist policies - like Roosevelt’s New Deal - in order to weaken the appeal. I think some civil rights policies were also driven by being embarrassed by the Russians - and we can’t forget it took America to the moon.

Hate, not fear. At least just wanting to tell you the difference. If you fear something you won’t dare fighting it because it’s scary. If you hate something, you will do at least what you can to prevent it from happening.

I think the point would be, the subject of hate is strong enough to be considered an enemy but weak enough to be defeated.

For the most part, although when the enemy seems too strong hate can boil for a while without action.
 
As for the topic - not sure. siibasa seems mainly to be blindly extolling the current system while condemning any deviation as communism, but that’s not much of a discussion. Before that some people were discussing taxation, I think, and free speech in the context of that troll spammer.

Its my internal defence mechanisms kicking in when faced with some of the hardcore twitteratis around here. Logical discourse dont work no more. They just keep on about how terrible everthing is, when most things are pretty decent, if, you can see the bigger picture. But for some incomprehensible reason social media says we must tear out countries apart so thats what they do. Hickok45 called them out in his sunday shoot-a-round, woke zombies. Apt description.
