People need to stop thinking that only two people can beat Trump or something. That’s not how democracy works.
 
You vote for the one to beat Trump. Anyone of age can beat Trump if more than half of the American population voted for them. It’s more on trying to find common ground between these voters that matters. Don’t gamble with people as the chips.

Bernie wasn’t, isn’t, solely focused on beating Trump. The DNC are pushing Biden who is basically just another Hilary. And when they inevitably lose again in November, they’re going to have to realize they have to push an actual progressive, not a neoliberal like Biden.

Since Sanders decided to stay in the race in the DNC instead of going his own way, he kind of made his choice. Nothing in the US, a republic, forbids independent candidates, the dems are centrists, there’s also libertarians and Vermin Supreme still alive and kickin.  
He didn’t made an alternative party to these dems, that’s the problem. As usual, people only see things in two direction. And the strategy of “without us you are nothing” is the formula for defeat.
 
(I know that, here in France Marine Le Pen lost once against Hollande, another time against Macron, when will she drop and when will we have a credible opposition here is also a good question.)

Bernie as a dem candidate gets massive publicity for his platform. As an independent candidate, nobody would have ever covered him, or more importantly, his policies that are now becoming more palatable or even mainstream in the dem party.
 
Some people actually don’t make it all about themselves.

Because Biden has support, familiarity, experienced and is actually willing to listen to experts.
 
Donald Trump only has familiarity and support from his base and businesses. He does not know what he is doing and his constant fumbling on the corona virus is also not helping him.

Honestly, I think it could go either way. It all depends on whether indecisive voters in the swing states are now fed up enough with Trump to make him lose the thin margin that allowed his heist on the electoral college to take place in 2016 (not unlikely, but not guaranteed either).
 
One thing’s sure: if Biden wins, it certainly won’t be because of his charisma or program, considering how much he’s lacking in both.

The circumstances are different. People are less apathetic now than they were in 2016.
 
People took a gamble on Trump because they thought that someone with no political experience would fix the system but now they know better.
 
Also Trump’s gamble the Ukraine Scandal failed to reach it objective. Knocking Joe Biden out of the race. Hillary’s emails came at the right moment and the media on both sides played to the conspiracy enough to sway voter opinion. Its not like that any more.
 
Donald Trump doesn’t have wiki leaks or Russia or any of the other wild cards to play this time around. People have seen what Trump has done. Its nothing like Hillary Clinton where we speculated and assumed despite having little to no factual evidence to go on that Hillary Clinton was up to something sinister.

Even if Biden wins, nothing is going to change with the status quo, even though it has to change. We’re trading a businessman for a neoliberal, who thinks MFA is a bad idea, fuck no, our healthcare system is fucking broken, and universal healthcare is the only way we’re going to fix it in the short term. Fuck Biden, if he wins the nomination I’m not voting in November.
