Is capitalism still better than socialism and communism?

Why would anyone opt for the continuing tendency towards the monopolization of all forces.

Capitalism is like food. It can taste good or it can taste bad, but we all agree that you shouldn't be eating too much food (aka unregulated capitalism) or else you all get fucked.

I tend to equate market economies with nuclear energy — properly controlled they're the best kind of engine for a society, but you should never forget the stuff inside is deadly and that there are negative byproducts.@SombrLiz

Capitalism was working pretty good in the 40s to 70s. Difference is back then there was regulation and corporations weren't considered people that somehow deserved more rights than actual people.

Can we go back to that? When there was regulations and corporations weren't considered people?

After Trump's campaign compared him to Thanos, Don Lemmon of CNN lost it.

CNN anchor Don Lemon called a tweet by the Trump campaign "crazy" and a "stupid, juvenile meme game" on Tuesday night after it posted an image of the president superimposed as Thanos from the "Avengers" films "snapping" House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and other Democrats into oblivion.

"What are we, in junior high school?" Lemon asked on "CNN Tonight" Tuesday. "Like what the hell? What is this? Like what — what? I cannot believe that I'm even having to report this on the news.

"This is crazy," the anchor continued. "This is literally crazy. Are you people insane? Are you insane? Go ahead, troll the Democrats on Twitter. Do this stupid, silly you-know-what. Play this stupid, juvenile meme game."

"History won't record this meme stupid crap, but history will record this," Lemon added. "The seriousness of what is happening, that today is the day that the House of Representatives in the United States of America introduced articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump, the president of the United States of America, for committing high crimes and misdemeanors. A big deal and lots to discuss."

The comic book creator of the Marvel supervillain Thanos also slammed the Trump campaign.

“After my initial feeling of being violated, seeing that pompous dang fool using my creation to stroke his infantile ego, it finally struck me that the leader of my country and the free world actually enjoys comparing himself to a mass murderer. How sick is that?” Jim Starlin said in an Instagram post.

“These are sad and strange times we are going through. Fortunately all things, even national nightmares, eventually come to an end,” he added.

He means the very same boomers who took advantage of that golden age of regulated capitalism have spent the past four decades ruining it for those who came next by pretexting those regulations were harmful for the economic growth (and indoctrinated their offspring with the same ideology so they'd keep doing the job until we reached the current situation).

That's why we can't go back (or with extreme difficulty if we try).

Combined with the evolving state of the Scandinavian welfare state, I don't think any turn to Social Democracy or Neo-Fordist economics will ever serve as a good long-term fix. In either cases the regulatory bodies that make this stuff work has been entirely eroded or outright destroyed (in America). This stemming from how so long as the economy is in the hands of private individuals like the Kochs, or Bezos, or whomever there will be an interest on their part to chip away at the welfare state because it of course interferes with their profit growth. And privately holding their companies means they still own a large chunk of the economy and they can threaten to close factories or move out of country to avoid the neccesary taxes. Even union activity is secondary to the influence and power of private capital as the basis of the economy. So every time something comes up for reconsideration or restructuring the major private powers can simply say "no", threaten to close or leave and choke the economy, and the welfare state seizes and chokes as the legislation is bent to the will of the companies.

Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have avoided a total collapse of their welfare state by shifting a lot of the financial burden to foreign investment funds and buying stocks in international projects the state reeps profit from, and Norway has dodged it so far by making the basis of its welfare state on a majority stake in its state owned oil company (or that was Sweden, either way). But America has never done this step.
