Considering what happened to the Commonwealth of England after the parliamentarians decided to simply exile Charles II after they beheaded his father, I don't think the Bolsheviks wanted to take a similar risk (and history since then would prove them sorta right since ex-Chinese emperor Puyi betrayed his country and buddied with Japan in the 30s-40s).
