It would be easily possible if left-leaning people consistently voted and campaigned for Democrats. The numbers are there if people could get over this reflex to bash Democrats whenever Republicans do something terrible.

FDR and LBJ were some of the most effective leaders of the century, and even they had about a dozen Dems routinely voting against their bills. It frustrates me that modern Democrats are expected to get 100% compliance among their members or they're considered worthless.
