AFAIK, the thing with cast iron pans is that the oils, flavours and fats are cooked into the pan as it’s used, being added to whatever you cook next with it. By scrubbing it clean he’s essentially reset it, and the only way to fix it is by cooking 20+ years’-worth of food before she gets home from work.

Instead of No Nut November, we should have No Noël November. In which we go the entire month, or at least before Thanksgiving, without voluntarily listening to Christmas music.
