All I know was that it was a video-game like scenario where I fixed the problems of three or four towns, than a temple surrounding them raised out of the ground and the helpful NPC either turned out to be one of them or their descendant, and had their minions destroy the towns, which you need to repair and have them help you defeat said NPC.

I love it when a series can naturally switch between light-hearted and dark/serious without feeling forced.

I find that most series who does that, takes place is a dark/serious setting with lighthearted characters.
 
That way when characters chill and joke around they dont feel out of character, but when the dark and serious shit goes down, it feels natural.
