With the rise of social media sites and people interacting with each other on the Internet on places like Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, Snapchat, Tik Tok, Discord, etc., I realized that forum sites have become a thing in the past after being the dominant place to chat with others far away from behind a screen since the 90’s. The people who continue to stay on sites like this such as all of us are the last of a dying breed, the last hold outs from a thing of the past. Reddit and 4Chan seem to be the last two big places from that time that are still alive and well.

I won’t lie I do deeply miss the forum era in lots of ways. Sure it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows but, compared to the social media algorithms of today, a place like Derpibooru is a serious breath of fresh air. I’m still signed up to some forums and I do want to be more active on smaller websites though. Also seem to be giving IRC a proper try these days, even if just as a backup for when Discord goes down.

I still enjoy Reddit, a lot more than I ever enjoyed Twitter/X. I officially left the latter earlier this month because it has just generally become such a drag.

Partly because I’m probably picky with social interactions and partially because honestly, I don’t usually like trends for some reason, I just feel a compulsive desire to stick it to trends most of the time.

I only just knew about this. That is a pretty big bruise too. I’m glad he survived. I don’t think I can handle losing him after Tony Todd was gone.

Old doesn’t mean bad. I much prefer forums. Reddit I find especially useful because of all the subreddits with specialized knowledge.

This was my hermit crab lair back in 2014. Unfortunately, they all never lasted a full week and died because idk how to take care or what to feed them. (I thought they just eat microscopic parts that are edible on the sand.)
