Is it more optimistic or pessimistic to say “The past wasn’t better. You’re just blinded by nostalgia”? On the one hand you’re saying that the present is not that bleak. On the other you’re saying things have always been this terrible.

To me, a realist would say “Well, it was a mixed bag”, and acknowledge that all points of life has its ups and downs.

It kind of all depends. Someone from 1989 could say hating Superman IV and loving I was just a nostalgia hater.

Some people live better thsn others in a certain year. Like maybe you were more inaginative back then.

Nostalgia I always say is not alwayd completely false. It merely exaggerate the good parts and decline the bad parts. Like a Japanese guy who forgot his financial turmoils in the 90s but remembers enjoying all the episodes of Kamen Rider.

Priorities!

The main 4 boys South Park are literally the worst. They’re selfish, rude, full of themselves. They try to throw their friend under the bus and get angry when said friend gets the benefits they think they deserve. They exploit someone else’s birthday money to start their own scamming scheme only to get that someone into life threatening situations. They constantly bully someone and act angry when that someone fights back. They constantly force each other to do things they don’t like and constantly try to humiliate each other. Cartman may be a racist, bigoted, manipulative sociopath but Kyle is all high and mighty thinking he knows all yet he constantly ignores other people’s needs, standing by when they’re down. He’ll tell others to act a certain way only to be the only one to act the opposite. Stan is a cynical douchebag who can’t tolerate others’ belief if it doesn’t meet his own and acts like he is the only one who knows how life works when he is just as stupid as Randy sometimes. Kenny is a perverted psychopath who would join in the boys’ selfish antics and constantly puts himself in harm’s way just because he can’t die.
