I only just noticed that was a thing. According to a quick search the newest non-RPG fantasy anime/manga I could find was Dog Days, which is now a decade old as of this month. It seems media in general is becoming too homogenous, the last decade saw the release of only three western animated movies that weren’t roadtrip films (Spider-Verse, TTG and Soul)

After seeing some clips of the anime about a spider wizard, I now hate the trope in anime that treats fantasy worlds as RPGs.

I am. So very much. But remove Kumoko from the series, then I’m gone. She’s literally the one reason why I even watch the series.
I even flat out skipped non-Kumoko parts (the generic anime fantasy rpg). Only rewatching them thru dubs.
