Don’t think that’s a good comparison, since (from my limited knowledge), the red crystals are made by making the crystals bleed while the rings are just red rings used by people with anger issues.

I just read the comic Palpatine explains that to make a Kyber Crystal bleed is by pouring Vader’s pain into it and literally verbatim says it’s “The color of your rage.”
Plus this comic’s writer wrote Red Lanterns so some influence I think.

It’s interesting but it makes me wonder about Sith apprentices over the centuries having to kill Jedi for their crystals as opposed to the old way of forging artificial ones like Darth Maul would have had to kill two Jedi for his.

I’ve seen videos on them. I like that like the Sith themselves, their lightsabers are corrupted versions of the crystals Jedi use for their lightsabers.

Plus it fits with the movies more since we never saw a Sith lightsaber behave any different than a Jedi lightsaber.

It was stated in the old expanded universe that the red crystals used by the Sith were able to destroy those typically used by the Jedi.

Q: Writer/director Rian Johnson received a ton of backlash online after “The Last Jedi,” with many fans petitioning to remake the film and redeem Luke Skywalker’s character. Were you surprised at all by the controversy?Ridley: I wasn’t surprised, no. It’s just a different thing. Everyone’s going to have an opinion now anyway on the internet, but I also think it’s fair. If people hold something incredibly dear and think they know how it should be and it’s not like that, it’s fair for people to think they were done wrong. It doesn’t mean they were – ultimately, Rian’s a filmmaker and one person can’t dictate how a film is supposed to be – but freedom of expression, sure.

You know, despite all the problems people may have with her character, I get the impression that Daisy genuinely wants the fans to be happy and have a good time. She’s kind of like Mark Hamill in that sense.
