Necroing a dead thread but I want to share something interesting

A very common remark spread among anti-islamists and atheists about Muhammad is that he married a 9/6 year old

Now initially I thought this was a historical fact but I recently learned is that, no, it actually isn’t fact and we don’t really know Aisha’s age, she could range anywhere from 6-22 years old

The reasons for this is complicated but the long and short of it was that there was accusations of her being adulterous and that she had gotten married to another man before Muhammad, and Aisha being a significant political figure in Islam at that time, those who supported her claimed she got married at the age of 6 to prove how “pure” she was and that she was a Muslim from a very young age, those who opposed her claimed she married later in age and therefore wasn’t a reliable source for Hadiths

Mom was yapping to me about how I should believe in Heaven, and I’m like “Not this shit again…”

Look, if I wanna believe in something, I don’t wanna believe in being surrounded by a bunch of wrinkly old farts in robes while a huge bearded dude stares at me 24/7 and punishes me for having even the slightest naughty thought.

I became Wiccan back in August and it’s doing good for my mental health so far.

Solitairy, am a bit antisocial irl, but I do have a nice altar setup for meditation and spellwork.

Nothing wrong with going solo.

I’m technically part of a grove, druid you see, but I mostly stay solitary. Though me and the wife practice together.

This is a (kinda) repost from the unpopular thread, but I feel it fitting to post here.

Christianity sucks! It’s largely an excuse for racism, sexism, LGBTQ-phobia, being an asshole to the poor, being an apologetic for slavery, etc. The Christians in positions of power are the absolute worst offenders.

There is absolutely no reason that Christianity should exist in its current form in the 21st century. There is no proof that a God (who is a magical being by definition) created the earth (and to a lesser extent the entire universe) in less than a week; that the human race descended from just two people; that there was a global flood that lasted for about 40 days; that there was a giant tower that somehow started making people speak different languages overnight; that Moses saw God write the Ten Commandments with no other witness around after parting the Red Sea to save the Jews from Pharoah; that God sent down his son Jesus (who was also somehow himself) to die for the sins of mankind…I could probably go on, but you get the idea. There is no reason I should be compelled to believe these obviously ridiculous claims!

The most hilarious oxymoron ever told is “loving Christians/Muslims/Jews”.

There’s a handful, but they’re firmly in the minority compared to the legion of disgusting, zealous, sociopathic death cultists that exist solely to make lives of folks like you and me more miserable. They spend their time wanking off to the idea of “sinners” suffering, and like to pretend they are all so high and noble. When in truth, many are bottom of the barrel scum that one can scrap off the edges of the swamp of ignorance.

It sucks because I know several friends of mine who are Christian and they really hate those bigots giving them a bad name

As a former church-goer, I can tell you that it’s quite nice to have at least one less person telling you what to do (whether it be the invisible man in the sky or one of his “prophets.”)

I find the existence of modern churches kind of amusing.

You’re seeing more and more churches becoming so anti-Jesus that it’s hilarious.

Anti-homelesses spikes, taking away benches, turning away homeless people, locking the doors, etc.

Pretty sure Jesus would want the churches to take in all the sick and needy.
