Question: Why are so many LGBT-related tagged posts being mass-downvoted for on here?

I looked at the lgbt tag and…

I ask genuinely why do so many lgbt-tagged posts get mass-downvoted for? Theres nothing wrong with the art or artist either itself, genuinely curious… Its always and mainly the ones that include the flags or themed ponies.

To me it I think its due to a lot of anti-lgbt users/trolls/bots(judging by some of the deleted comments on the posts) on the site that instead of hiding the tag must have to mass-downvote the art until it gets over -100 downvotes causing it to be hidden automatically for everyone (especially with default filter on) but, what do yous think? This mass-downvoting thing isn’t normal anywhere else but on the LGBT/Pride tags especially if it contains a flag or the colours…

I was going to post this in Site & policy but I feel like it belongs here more as I am wanting community-based responses to why more than just responses from the staff…

This isn’t to spread any hate or drama, I am just really curious to why as this isn’t normal I find it honestly a bit sad especially as the MLP community is supposed to be about friendship & acceptance of others no matter what.

Well, hate to say it to disappoint ya, but it always has been like this for a long time (and last year happened like this too), the fandom is made up of mostly straight dudes who don’t feel any supports for LGBT or indifferent or hostile to it…

or maybe many people here might get annoyed with the theme and would rather downvote them to troll than filter out…

I don’t think that’s true. You’ll find extra downvoting on politics, mouthpieces, religion… I feel like it’d be more complete to say that people dislike the insertion of IRL cultural topics and social issues.

And it’s not like people are hating on simply being LGBT, just the cultural movements and symbols.

Here are some stats - % of posts with more than 10 downvotes (not adjusted to scale with total number of votes!) within the past year, for these queries:
8.60% - every post
14.85% - (lesbian || bisexual || pansexual || gay || transgender), -(pride || *pride flag)
16.49% - (religion || islam || muslim || hijab || christianity || bible || the bible || jew || judaism)
39.60% - (pride || *pride flag)
64.00% - (mouthpiece)
66.36% - (politics), -(pride || *pride flag)

I’m not surprised if its due to hate, its really sad still tho as you’d think the MLP community would be more accepting of it. I still don’t get why they can’t just filter it though which is the thing…

It seems a lot of people hate anything culturally like that but why can’t they just filter it out if they don’t like it and are that uncomfortable by it? Like when I’ve disliked something(aka foalcon for example), instead of downvoting it & complaining about it to just block it/use the filters which is easier than constantly seeing that subject, downvoting it constantly & getting uncomfortable by seeing it.

People seem to really dislike mostly LGBT + Pride flags with Politics included more than just lgbt/pride flags on their own. You’re probably right there with it being over them not liking the real-life cultural/political topics.
