Um, most Zelda games are not open world though? just because the world looks open and connected doesn’t mean that it is, most locations are walled off to you until you reach a certain point in the story, and have the necessary item to access said area, other wise you cannot reach said locations unless you glitch your way through.
 
The only Zelda games that qualify as “Open world” are the original Zelda game and Breath of the wild, every other Zelda is a mostly linear Adventure game
 
 
Just because Metroid games can be sequence broke does not make them “Open world” Metroid and Castlevania and other such games are literally known as “Metroidvania’s” they are very much their own thing and are in no way close to open world.
 
an Open world game is a game where you can go from point A to point Z immediately and it doesn’t block your path in any way that you can’t bypass right off the bat.

Also Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past. You can beat any Temple in the order that you want. Of course in Ocarina, you need specific things to enter in certain temples, but you are not forced to go in an specific order.
 
The first Metroid game was considered an open world game in the beginning. It was time that change it and people just invented the “Metroidvania” and now people considers it like that now.

Thats also in the main story of Skyrim. You cannot proceed to the main story of the game until you do specific quests. You need to fight your first dragon if you want to beat the final boss. You need to climb the long ass mountain to meet the Elders and continue with the quest.

Breath of the Wild is pretty open-world. It is completely possible to run straight to the final boss right after you get out of the first area, Great Plateau. You will be killed in maybe two hits because final boss, but hey, open world.

Again, just because you can do some of the dungeons out of order in AlttP and Ocarina of time does not make them open world games, an open world game is a game whose world is open to you without prerequisites in all of those Zelda games you mentioned besides BotW your path around the world is limited until you first meet Zelda on Oot and until you have the Master sword in AlttP and you have to beat Snowhead temple before you can get the powder keg to get Epona to get to Great Bay.
 
Yes, and just because Elder Scrolls quest-lines are linear does not make the world they take place in are. From Morrowind to Skyrim you can complete any of the guild quest-lines and DLC without ever playing the games main quest-line beforehand.

I thought he was doing an Egyptian region next.

Oh, and you need the hook shot to reach Ikana valley which can only be gotten in the Great bay temple so in no way is Majora’s mask open world

Heck, as much as I love Sword & Shield, it probably has the worst instance of linearity in the franchise because there aren’t really any branching paths or side areas at all.

On the topic of freedom in the franchise, did you know that in gen 1, the trigger to have the officer move so you can access the Dig house is getting the ticket and not beating Misty, or unlike the Alpha/Omega remakes, you can skip the flying gym because there’s noting preventing you from ignoring her until the badge-check before facing the Elite Four?

I think that’s still the case with the Dig house in FRLG? But it’s been a while (gonna start that Fire Red playthrough soon though).
