I’m mostly curious since no other Mystery dungeon game included the feature. Only the first two had this feature.

if by “first two” you mean red and blue rescue team, then yes
 
but, gates had kind of a similar thing, as far as i can remember, each pokemon you recruited would roam around paradise
 
and super had 5 different towns in wich different kinds of pokemon would appear randomly (aside from certain set ones) and talking to them would add them to the conection orb, if im not mistaken

I think Advanced is my favourite.

 
Umbreon was originally a Poison-type Eeveelution that would have evolved from a scrapped Poison Stone item. This is probably why Pokedex entries mention how it sweats poison.

It still catches me off-guard whenever I’m reminded that the Explorers Wigglytuff is actually male (especially since the dub gave him a female voice).

It’s never caught me off guard and I’ve never attributed default genders to specific pokemon species.

Mystery Dungeon Thought:
 
If your dialogue choices or some your character’s monologues were different depending on what you got in the starter quiz.
 
And if you got one result and changed to a different one, your partner might say at some point that you act quite unlike other mons of your type.
 
eg. “You’re pretty calm for a totodile, you know?”
